Give Jones a break on this one guys. Very late in the game on trying to snag 4s & 5s. At least this 3* has potential & is a position of need. If he is failing to get any 4 & 5 stars next year then that is a problem. He is doing what he can to salvage a recruiting class. This is a great recruit to take a chance on & is ranked fairly high at his position by recruiting services.

I just don't understand what people expect right now. We have not done anything in the past 4 years, we have a new coaching staff, and this staff doesn't have relationships built up with recuits. They have been here about 4 weeks now and people expect the number one overall class. Not every kid in America feels like we do about UT, they want to go some where that is winning right now which we haven't done. It's awful that this kid is automatically labeled as terrible just because we don't want 3 star players. This fan base is falling apart and turning on each other.

just hoping to get some serious talent not a bunch of redshirt players. hoping for the best expecting the worst. i didn't like jones being hired because the name was not big enough to generate the buzz needed for recruits and so far it has been right on. i don't see anyway that he turns the program around with these types of players it is just putting us closer to UK and farther away from vandy. you have to win some recruiting wars against the big boys.

You do realize it's better to red-shirt most of an incoming class as opposed to throwing them out there as necessity due to chitty depth (ala UT the past few years), right?

yes but for TE we need one to play right now. this kid is light. needs a redshirt year.

It's been a little over a month. Gruden wasn't interested and Jones has the best resume to take over the job since Majors.

I hate loosing. But, im also not a bandwagon fan. I have watched Tennessee football long enough to know, you have to EARN everything in the SEC. The first place you earn it is ON the football field. When you do that, then you EARN the right to recruit like we are used to. Until then, we need to get the best players for our PROGRAM at this time. Regardless of what some random "recruiting expert" with an unhealthy man crush on certain high school players thinks. College football works in cycles, we will have ours again...SOON. Also if you called me a Alabama fan to my face, lets just say it would not end well for you. Im sure the REAL Tennessee fans would tell you the same thing. :peace2:

There are only two 5* TE and ten 4*, so clam it down on the kid being a 3*. He's a nice tall target with great speed and will probably pack on 20-25 pounds of muscle when he gets here.

Im with ya, but wasnt Witten a 4 or 5 star DE coming out of high school? Came down to VT and Tennessee?

After all the injuries, and the 1 loss due to stupidity, to that position last year we needed this. Also after watching Cincy's tight end in the bowl game and considering he was a 3* to start with I am pleased with this recruit. Welcome aboard :rock:

Saying this kid will be good because they had a decent TE at cinncy this year, is like us saying every TE Fulmer recruitted is Jason Whitten.

I was commenting on their ability to coach them up and relating that to the fact that the TE from Cincy will be playing on Sunday and he was a 3*. Look at the highlights, the kid looks good.

Or you could just spew negative comments without any facts to base them on...your choice

Oh, don't be upset because I disagree.

I think you recruit championship big east players to inturn get middle of the pack sec players. That's my thinkin.

Fact: Big East title contender cincy team has struggled against lower SEC schools i.e. vandy and UT as of late.
