New Commit- TE A.J. Branisel

Fact: Big East title contender cincy team has struggled against lower SEC schools i.e. vandy and UT as of late.

Tell me I don't use facts, why I oughta......

Fair comparison however Big east teams aren't usually able to get the prized OL, DL recruits. SEC usually wins on these kids. The SEC also usually wins these games in the trenches. This guy is a TE...name 10 good ones in the country.

Having a great QB and RB don't help if your line can't block the opponents.

All I am saying is that a big east TE looks good against big east competition. The SEC also has a knack for getting some of the best TE as well. TE spend about 67% (made up number) blocking. So he will have to do his awesomeness against the best DE's and DT's around. He could turn out to be great, but just saying some guy in cincy had a good year in the big east will translate to an amazing SEC player, escapes me rationally.

Not too ecstatic about this one. #29 TE in nation, & not being recruited by OSU, who I think we can agree doesn't even have good enough players to not get clobbered by good SEC teams when they play OSU. So, if a team with better players that is still not good enough to not get likely beat by 21 by UF or UGa is not even recruiting a TE in their backyard, then I'm not that happy about it.

Could he play football? Hell yes. 3 star RB out of high school. VFL.

South Pittsburg product. He was awesome and I feared for my teammates (and my life) during practice and I was glad he played for us. Randy Smith (sports anchorman in Chattanooga at time) could not stand him because his boy played for Boydbuchanan (for those non Randy Smith fans). He cut a player so bad with his helmet that Boydbuchanan reported him to TSSAA for having razor blades on his helmet. Oh well, I'll move on from the past.

Except that a Butch Jones led Cincy dominated Vandy last year....

Has great speed for a TE. runs in the 4.5 range. I see him being a weapon!!!

I am absolutely disgusted with all of the marginal talent we are getting to commit, but this guy is actually pretty good.

Well five stars haven't been working out for us either. Bryce Brown, Janzen Jackson, Da'Rick Rogers, etc.

Da'Rick was All SEC, I'll take it. Janzen was freshman All SEC and we got two very productive years from him. Bryce Brown was its own story but it was very exciting when he put the Tennessee hat on at his presser.

Can we not wait until signing day before we hammer away on this class?? Better yet I for one will wait until I see them play before deciding wether or not they can play!!

Wouldn't it be great if we could flip a bunch of Cincinnati recruits?
Totally awesome. :ermm: If we could only be as good as Cincinnati...oh, wait. Didn't Dooley thump them good last year?

Seriously, though. I understand the whole concept of bringing in assistants you know, but if we are going to hire mostly Big East coaches who are pursuing Big East caliber recruits...how does that inspire hope for a brighter future?

Yet another 3 star. When will the idiots saying BOOOOM realize that we are filling up a roster full of scrubs? This is pathetic
We recruited Jason Witten and this is a direct quote from his timeline: "
• Attended Elizabethton, Tenn., High School, where he was a consensus All-America selection at linebacker by PrepStar, Parade, Gridiron Greats, USA Today, Blue Chip Illustrated, and Street and Smith.
• As a senior, selected as the USA Today Player of the Year for Tennessee, the East Tennessee Player of the Year, Region Defensive Player of the Year and runner-up for the Mr. Football award after recording 163 tackles, 9.0 sacks, two interceptions, two blocked kicks, five forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries". Yes, he did play TE on offense, but defense was his bread and butter!

I disagree.

Most of the guys that sign at a given school have been recruited by that school for as long as two years. There's no way this year's class can say anything about Jones. 2014 is really the first fair measure.

Big time coaches make big splashes in their first year recruiting without fail. He's got to really turn this class around. I expect even more in 2014, but without some show this recruiting cycle, I think it unlikely he is going to make inroads against Saban, Richt, et al. in 2014.

PS - I really like this guy, but I take the point that we've got to start killing it Top Ten style in recruiting. Flipping Vandy and becoming Cincy South I don't think is enough.

Initially I was thinking the same, but jumping on in midstream, I don't know that CBJ has a ton of options this year.
The number 11 TE in the country, thats not to bad, lets give the man time this time next year if we are rated in the 40s then we got a problem, i think we will finish strong this year, its not over yet got a month to make a little splash.

UF or UGA ain't beating OSU by 21. Not any more. And really not in the past---7-14 maybe.
