ESPN Monday Night Football commentator Jon Gruden: This is the guy UT needs to pump life back in to a once proud program, but something tells me UT is not that serious bout winning!

Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy: Gundy .He's 66-34 in his career and makes $3.2 , again not the guy you really want but would be a better then Golden!

Cincinnati coach Butch Jones: Jones is too risky for UT at this time UT needs a homerun or something very close Jones doesn't fit either of those requirements!

Texas Christian coach Gary Patterson: Patterson would do okay here hes won a rose bowl and has played in another!

Former Arkansas head coach Bobby Petrino: Ole Bobby is a snake in the grass but he can coach and win in the SEC, UT woud be fools not to offer him the job, but wait UT are fools so Petrino is out!

Alabama defensive coordinator Kirby Smart: Not as risky as the Jones hire would be, but a risky move that UT can't afford!

Louisville coach Charlie Strong: Strong is 23-14 at Louisville not good enough in my opinion to hand him the keys to UTFB program!


Inclosing its Gruden or bust!, if UT doesn't pull the trigger and give Gruden the control hes looking for then count me out as a suppoter of this slop being passedoff as UTFB!

Now that the season is over, how long do y'all think it will take to get a coach in? I know we are at the end of November, but signing day isn't that far off. The new coach would still have time to recruit.

Another day goes by and it looks like Paterson is the golden nuggut, followed by Golden, Strong, and Jones. I am guessing Golden but Golden=Strong=Jones probably all have equal likely hood of being our next coach.

Why? He's proven that he can win wherever he's been. His morals may not be the best, but who are we to judge? Others have done just as bad, or worse, they just haven't got caught. You'll find skeletons in everyone's closet, and I believe in giving people a second chance.

If Arkansas was the only issue, I get your point! The way he left Louisville was shady. The way he left the Falcons was horrendous(their are still some players that that would like to talk to him about that). And overall, just the guy looks like a "snake" and someone you cant trust. Imagine Petrino coming into your living room to recruit your kid? Not sure I could believe the guy?

I would much rather see anyone other than Golden. I can't see Hart hiring him. He is a proven loser and we would be a stagnant program forever. Butch Davis would be much better. Paterson would be better. We do not need Golden!

Something tells me there's gonna be quite a few lumps of coal I need to give out real soon if I find out Gruden wants to come and the hold up is on TN's end. Dangit give him what he needs/wants and in turn its gives us what we need/want. here's the way I am..I know you might think I was brought up at the North Pole, but not true..I was born in East TN, and proud of it. Everywhere I go, I have a BIG T showing somewhere.. especially at the beach where I fly a huge Tennessee flag over my tent. I used to wear people out, especially Gamecock fans that never could beat us, now they even come looking for me, and Im tired of ducking them. .tired of being humiliated on National tv by inferior teams.I want us back to the top, and Gruden is the fastest way. I promise, if its Hart's fault, not even a crumb in your stocking buddy. Holy crap, where's the tylenol?

Still dont believe we get Gruden, Paterson, Peterson, Stoops, Grundy, or Fisher.

I agree!! If Gruden wants to coach, that's fine. But from what everbody is saying, he wants to do ALOT more than just coach. IMHO, it's gonna take at LEAST $4.5 million to pull him away from ESPN. I just think their are alot of PROVEN quality coaches out there we could get for $3 million or less! Art Briles, June Jones, Jim Grobe, just to name a few. Winning at BB schools is tough to do. I even like Randy Edsall. Those kind of coaches would dig UT's facilities and would thrive at UT.

I am fairly new to VN and this is my first post. I've been reading comments all season but never responded. I have a coworker that is a UC grad and he told me today that Butch Jones reportedly turned down an offer from UT and said he didn't need to go anywhere because in a couple of months they will be joining the ACC. Can't say if there is ANYTHING solid to back this up, but I couldn't find this rumor anywhere else on the net so I figured I ask if any of you have heard.

So why was he not given a 2nd chance for the 2012 season? ANYWHERE???

I dont think their is any truth to it. I personally think they would interview him in knoxville before they would even dare make him an offer.

So you're telling me because Gruden wants more "control" he's a "no thanks" in your opinion and you would rather have someone from your list above?
