Your funny!! Actually was excited at someone else when I wrote that!! I am sick of people thinking that only 1 Man is capable of coaching Tennessee. There are SEVERAL qualified candidates for this job. To think that Tennessee can only be turned around by one person, is honestly a very shallow person. Therefore, they are considered a Puketard!! Im from Ohio, I'm sorry you feel criticism being from the great State of Tennessee, no I'm not offended you flipped me off, I am offended that 30-40% of our fans are sold on 1 man who hasn't coached a game in 5 years. I know DAVE Hart will do well in hiring a QUALIFIED Coach!!
Something to be said for dropping football. President Paul Stanton told us in 2004 when ETSU football was dropped that would "allow" us to concentrate on basketball and let us bring our basketball program to national prominence. Yep, You know us ETSU, Atlantic Sun Conference! We bring a laugh to everyone we play, but our football program has not lost a game since 2004! Please make a good hire Mr Hart, UT needs and deserves one of the best coaches in the nation. Go Vols!1) If he is a big name and successful at a big time program, then he won't take the job? i.e. Saban, Meyer, Gruden
2) If he is a big name and not successful at a big time program, then the fans don't want him. i.e. Zook
3) If he is a small name at a small time program, then the fans don't want him. i.e. the guy at No. Illinois
4) If he is successful at a good program, but maybe outside or near the top 25, then the fans don't want him. i.e. Fedora, Briles
The way I look at it, there is NO WAY to hire a football coach that will satisfy this fan base. Let's do like ETSU and drop football.
Bret Bielema,....don't like hiring Big 10 guys. Anyways, I could not place this guy,..had to look him up. Turns out he coaches up North, he is a yankee. Who knew. But I think his history might not be bad,...if he can keep a steady stream of good OCs coming to Knoxville I might not have a problem w/this dude. Kind of surprising myself by thinking this. But I'm ok w/his path to coachdom.

yeah, I was talking about you and yes--I did comprehend correctly what you were saying. I shouldn't have made the "stupid fan" comment--please forgive me, that was wrong.
However, I do remember and actually am old enough to have watched MSU when Saban was coaching there. He did bring life into that program that was dead for the last 30 years in the Big 10. My point was that his record there WASN'T the measure of his coaching ability and EVERYONE in college football knew it.
My point also in this thread is to ask--where is the guy who looks like the next Saban out of all the available coaches out there? Is it Briles? Is it Fedora? Is it Shaw out at Stanford? Is it Butch Jones?
I think we are close enough and with the right hire will be competitive sooner rather than later--and I wanted Gruden. So, I guess that is what puts me in the Big Orange Closet?
:salute:
Well the main thing I get ribbed about it is how ignorant and arrogant some Vol fans are. Now I may have to hear how erogant we are, whatever the hell that means.

Really. You didn't know who Bielema was? He inherited a very good team and has done well to maintain it. At least you didn't think he was Jessica Biel-ema's dad.
He doesn't coach in the SEC, so he barely matters to me. Besides,...BIG 10 is barely football worth watching.
I'd like to know who all has been considered for head coach. I know we've only heard of a few being contacted but you know there's probably several others who have been. I mean if they did consider a coach like Bob Stoops what others have been considered? Gary Patterson, Mark Dantonio, Bret Bielema, Chris Peterson, Norm Chow...just brainstorming over a list from wikipedia. There aren't many long tenured coaches left out there: Frank Beamer V. Tech since 1987, and Larry Blakeney Troy since 1991 are the two longest out there. There's only 3 others that have been at their schools since the 90's, Bob Stoops, Mack Brown, and Kirk Ferentz at Iowa.
tenn is doomed, we should be hearing names like mora morris romen, instead we are hearing names like gundy fedora and strong. these coaches will be lucky to get us back above vandy. i now realize how screwed we really are. think it is a combo of tenn not being a top program anymore and the football idiot dave hart who is proving to be incompetant.
