All the stories of Civil War, fast horses, beautiful women, the world's best whisky (both of the taxed and untaxed variety) and Tennessee Football. Thank you, Jesus, for letting me be born in the foothills of the Great Smokey Mountains!
Great family pride!Oh, and my East Tennessee ancestors died wearing Union blue and fighting for the Stars and Stripes back in the 1860's. I am sure they kicked a lot of Bammer ass before they gave their "last full measure of devotion". Still, I am happy to say these unis are badass. Also, should be noted that the shade derives from Smokey, our Blue Tick mascot.
Sometimes change is good. I like the smokey colour. The fact that our mascot goes by the same name and the smoky mountains are a huge landmark of Tennessee it makes a lot of sense. This feels more purposeful then say black. Sometimes changing a culture of losing require out of the box thinking. This doesn't mean some how the gray unis will win us games but it reflex the change of mind taking place. Plus I do think it creates hype/exposure for the program.
They put the same number font from the 51 vols football jersey to pay respect to the 51 vols who won a national title with General Neyland. the power T on the pants is to pay respect to the 98 champions as well.I just realized, why do the grey jerseys not have the new number font that the orange jerseys do?
Agree 100%. The only thing here is we now have seen the new uniform before they came out wearing them unlike 2009. I really like the change myself and now have a great idea for an early Christmas present
