Defends well, yes. Rebounding is decent, but not what it should be. That pass underneath he caught was excellent, although the chances of success on that were quite low with the needle that had to be thread along with ON’s hands. I love his potential, but to say he isn’t underachieving seems curious.
Where did I say that he isn’t underachieving?

At the risk of being too positive here, I think fans are a bit hard on orn for no particular reason when commenting on body language/attitude/blaming players etc. when nobody has any clue what’s being communicated by the coaching staff/said to teammates. If barnes is still starting him/putting him out there, I’ll assume that’s not an issue at all. Same with “lazy/last up the court” comments when he’s generally the outlet for the pg at the top of the key to begin the offensive set.

He’s been inconsistent offensively this year and can get in trouble sometimes when he tries to drive from the perimeter. At the same time, imo he’s probably been our 2nd best post player outside of fulky, and is our best post defender/decent rebounder.

He’s still really young for his grade if I remember correctly, and hasn’t played a ton up until this year so I’d think inconsistencies in conference play are somewhat expected. All our posts need to be better though, and hopefully he and the rest of our posts can grow as the season goes on and give us a threat down low come March.

Actually just rewatched Florida game, cause I went to game yesterday…I thought ON played pretty darn well the 2nd half, he had 2 really tough catches and finishes, 1 from Chandler full court and 1 from Vescovi full court. He also had a pass down low prom Powell that wasn’t an easy one to handle that he was able to snag…he had a good 2nd half imo.

It was pretty decent. Fulkerson played well in the 2nd half, as did Vescovi, and Chandler. They all played pretty well from what I remember.

We went from a 12 point deficit to a 8 point lead I believe in this game. I thought we played well during this plus 20 stretch. Got sloppy with the ball late and didn't put them away. Under Florida's circumstances it wasn't tremendously impressive but it's mission accomplished and move on.

Which is where my frustrations with Barnes were. This team is much better than it was playing. It has the build at least of a team that could make a deep run. 2 good guards, 3 point shooting. Good enough big. A decent few off the bench to spell the starters. An elite defender or two that can shut other teams best player down or at least slow them down.

This team definitely had potential but you can't tell me you expected a team playing 2 true freshman at point guard and 1 true freshman in the post (not to mention Fulky's inconsistent play & JJJ's injuries) to be hitting all cylinders early in the season which is what you seem to be implying. Most posters would say they seem to be playing to their potential now and are in position to make a great run to end the season (but of course none of that can be due to coaching...lol).

Each and every win is big because you have to scratch and claw every game. Eleven turnovers in the first half was a killer as we were down early 23-10. Second half we had 5 turnovers, which is reasonable and gave us the chance.

Florida was up 38-26 with 2mins left in the half, won 78-71…so outscored them 52-33 over final 22 minutes. That 2nd half was arguably our best offensive half of basketball since the North Carolina game.

I figure that's what it is, but then I wonder how ON gets the touches does, because no one should trust him, right now.

Not only is he fumbling away good feeds, but he's also unaware that other good feeds are coming his way. See JJJ's oop-pass, last night, that slammed hopelessly off the backboard because Nkamhoua didn't even see it coming. And worse yet, ON wants to continually blame his teammates when he's at fault.
Yeah that was terrible from ON.

Yes, for my expectations of a top 10 team I expdcted them to look much better than they did earlier in the season.

What's the threshold for "earlier in the season"? They went 9-2 in OOC games with wins against the #6 and #18 at the time teams. UK also went 9-2 with their best win being an unranked at the time UNC team. Auburn went 11-1 with the best win against Murray State and lost their only game against a ranked team. So what's your threshold?

Cause we lost to Bama/UK/LSU…all on the road and all against Top 20 KenPom teams, all 3 games that even a Top 10 team would be underdogs in, but sure, overreact to it.

If we're going to win 7 in a row, this is the stretch to do it. We've got a 3 game streak going and the next 4 are @Texas, TAMU, @USC, @Miss State.

Not an easy stretch by any measurement, but probably the most manageable 4 game stretch you can hope for to get some wins.
14% chance of happening per KenPom. If we don’t do it here the next best odds are for the last 7 but only an 8% chance there.

No, I’m saying heading into Vandy was the chances of winning 7 straight 17% and now that we’ve won 3/7 that % is higher? Or was it less than that and having won 3 now that % to win 4 more is 17%?
Oh, now that’s 17% for the next 4. Heading into Vandy I’d guess our odds would have been ~6%
