This team is loaded, just not coached well at all.

Tell me don't know basketball without telling me you don't know basketball...lol.

It is beyond comical you think our post is "loaded" and Chandler has seemingly hit the proverbial freshman wall as he is well-scouted at this point and struggling (15 assists to 12 t/o in last 5 games is putrid...point production is either on or off for awhile now). But please tell me more about how a team with no post presence and a struggling point guard (potential yes, consistent production no) is loaded.

2 good young posts.
2 shooters
A good wing defender
Nobody consistent in the post but 4 guys that are good enough.
This is the roster of a really good college team.
They only thing they are really missing is size at the PG position, but no college roster will ever be perfect.

If TN is a 4, Texas should be a 1

It was a pathetic performance on the offensive end, but let’s be real honest and not over inflate Texas. We’re the better team. If we play that game in TBA it’s a 10-15 point win. If it’s in March and on a neutral court, we probably win as well.

I’m less concerned about losing to Texas than I am about the resurgence of an ugly, inconsistent offense.

As long as we have Barnes the offense won't be consistently good. Just gotta hope we build a TX Tech or UVA like defense to carry them in the next couple years

I’m not going to give up on ever having a good offense. Not under Barnes. This year it’s pretty clear we are who we are and I won’t debate that, but there is enough talent on this team (young talent, too) that I think we can get there. It all depends on how guys like Aidoo, BHH, and Maschack develop over the next few years.

I doubt BHH is here next year. Aidoo is a complete unknown and this year is a waste. And so far JM reminds me of Gaines is a good defender but has no offensive ability.

Again, no matter how many times you say it, it doesn’t make it true. Unbiased national folks said it wasn’t (human element), and advanced analytics (data element) said it wasn’t, so just maybe it wasn’t? You can’t show me one mock draft that has more than 1 player off this roster being drafted.

So "good enough" equates to loaded?

We are a good college team (hence our Top 25 ranking) with even higher potential but we are definitely not loaded. In order to take the next step we have to get more consistent production from our post players (and not just scoring) and Chandler has to up his game as teams seemingly have a good handle on how to slow him down. CRB has got to find something offensively which prevents us from continuing to have these long scoring droughts and makes the game easier (a good start would be eliminating turnovers, missed free throws, and missing a bunch of point blank looks).

So resetting a bit, Tennessee made it through the 10 game slate 6-4 which is what the expected record of a Top 10-15 team in that span would’ve been. The good news is that they’ve still yet to drop a game at home and all 6 losses are considered Q1 losses. The bad news is Tennessee hasn’t been able to get many Q1 wins which will likely limit their ceiling for seeding in the NCAAT. I’ve maintained 21-9(12-6) should be the goal to reach, it would exceed preseason projections, should have us around 3/4 seed line (4 most probable), would almost certainly be Top 4 SEC finish meaning double bye in SECT.

We are at 14-6(5-3) with 10 games remaining, so needing a 7-3 finish or better to reach that mark, here’s the slate…

Texas A&M Q2
@ South Carolina Q2
@Mississippi State Q1
Vanderbilt Q3
Kentucky Q1
@ Arkansas Q1
@ Missouri Q3
Auburn Q1
@ Georgia Q3
Arkansas Q2

At a minimum 3-1 has to be record over next 4, a loss at Mississippi State doesn’t hurt you but definitely shrinks your margin of error.

I’d feel better about this team’s chances to make a S16 or an E8 if we can win these next 4. We need to put together a little streak against lesser competition.

I do agree the lack of Q1 wins has been disappointing, granted we have had a brutal schedule as the vast majority of our Q1 opportunities have come on the road.

I also see the remaining 10 games being 7-3 with losses to Ky, Aub, and @Ark.

Hopefully that gets us 3/4 seed in SECT and avoids the dreaded 5 seed in NCAAT (depending on how we do in SECT)

However, I can also see us stinking the gym up @Ark, @Mz, and @MSU but I don't expect it. Worse case 5-5, best case 8-2.

I still see us at 19 wins. I think we lose to Auburn, and KY for sure. I think 2 more coming from @AR, MSSU, AR, TAMU. I could see us laying an egg on the road to a lesser team too, most likely MO.

20 wins would be very good, 21 would be fantastic.

Hopefully those games will help prepare us for neutral site NCAAT game against tough opponents

With the offensive problems we are bound to drop a game or two that we are not suppose to. This tends to happen anyway. I'm surprised we haven't seen it yet. I think the basketball Gods saved us against Ole Miss.

I can only subsist on "at least we have good losses!" for so long. And to be honest, that time has already passed for me—I kinda want Rick's results to reflect his salary. Watching Kentucky destroy Kansas, Auburn cruise to a victory at number one, and Alabama knock Baylor off on the same night we lost to Texas was a tough pill to swallow.

So getting drafted = a good roster? How many good college players have we seen get drafted and go on to do nothing, or names fans recognize dont get drafted at all. Good college roster doesnt = NBA roster. This is a really good college roster.

Yes. A good coach would have this team top 10.

Lmao, nobody that’s not a Tennessee fan thinks this is a Top 5-10 roster, you’ve changed your stance because you originally were trying to use mock drafts until you realized there was only 1 guy lol.
