Nichols committed to Memphis?

all this talk about academics...lets look at some facts:

Memphis' basketball APR = 970
Tennessee basketball APR = 935

but don't let me stop you guys, this is entertaining.

What does the academic standing of 13 individuals from each school have to do with the academic rating or reputation of those respective schools? Your example is about as relevant as saying student A at Tennessee has a 3.0, and student B at Memphis has a 4.0, thus Memphis is a better academic institution.

Dude is confused. Memphis basketball fan and Miami Football fan.At Least i was a Tennessee basketball fan when they sucked.

My favorite ones are the Alabama football/Duke basketbal fans or the Gator football/Kentucky basketball fans. Funny how many of those you see now.

Hope AN is happy with his choice, thats all that matters. Just hope the parents didnt talk him into what they wanted but I am afraid thats what happened.

Me too. At the end of the day, the team I root for doesn't have Pastner as their head coach. That NBA arena and all those top recruits have done wonders so far huh? No reason to answer that either bro.

-Family. Exactly the reason to get out of that dump. i have family in Memphis and I honestly fear for their lives.
Facilities. The play in a borrowed NBA stadium.
Tradition. They play in a dying league.

This was the Dad plain and simple. Pastner is a recruiting machine.

Cuonzo Martin and Austin Nichols' father have a good relationship. His parents most likely was the reason that he skipped over Tennessee, but it wasn't because his dad didn't like Martin. They probably just don't want him leaving home.

I had a feeling he wasn't picking UT. It just seemed like every quote I saw from his father wasn't in favor of the Vols.

After the last several weeks of interviews with Austin and his dad the writing was on the wall. Oh well best of luck in Memphis.

I've never been more glad to be wrong...turning down Duke and Vandy to stay home in Memphis...Pastner is a recruiting God.

after reading the comments here about Memphis...I don't see why any Memphis player would want to play for UT...do you guys forget it's their HOME?

How about because 6-8% of the entire UT undergraduate population every year is from Shelby County? UT has a big following in Shelby County, and it will continue to be that way.

Apparently the pace of play was the main issue...John Martin telling tiger fans to thank KenPom, played a huge role.

Said the 58 pages of info was nothing but KenPom numbers that the family reviewed and decided Nichols best fit in.

They allowed his twin sister to go to Knoxville.
