I hit 33 typing fast meant to hit 22 but Peyton was in the Heisman voting and won the Davey Obrien QB award so it don't matter to me I was just pointing out that Nico is basically in his second year if he's as good as advertised next year will be his last and on to the NFL. if you think Nico is better that's great for us moving forward should win or be in contention for SECC.I'm not sure where you are getting your information but Peyton was 244/380(64.2%) for 2954 yds with 22 TDs and 4 INTs his Sophomore season. Nico was 213/334(63.8%) for 2616 yds with 19 TDs and 5 INTs this season. While Peyton had the better season, it wasn't a huge discrepancy and Peyton had started 8 games his Freshman season.
They’re not the same caliber player, but all of them made bigger impacts than Nico and that’s just a fact. Also Jake Fromm took a team that was more or less comparable in talent to this years team to a national championship as a freshman. Chris Leak set just about every passing record at Florida by the time he was done and won a national championship thereI stopped reading when you put the likes of Dobbs Bray Fromm Eason and Chris Leak in same sentence as Tebow Manziel Tua Lawrence
We shall see.
If Nico was highly sought after by other universities willing to match his market value he would likely be gone by now. He’s simply not very good at the moment. He was the second best QB on the field for close to half of the games he played this season, and you don’t pay a QB 8M over 4 years to redshirt in year 1 and be the second best QB on the field in most of their games in year 2. Sure his WR room wasn’t elite, but there’s significant problems he has as a QB that have nothing to do with the quality of the weapons around him. He locks in on one side of the field, and it oftentimes causes him to not see open guys on the other side and when his first read or two isn’t there he gets happy feet and panics. I know he’s still somewhat young to an extent, but so is DJ Lagway and they look like 2 completely different caliber players. Look at what Jacob Eason did during crunch time against what was really a fairly talented defense against us in 2016. The point is you expect a player of his caliber to not struggle as much early on in their career as a typical RS Freshman QB. If the staff knew it was going to take 3-4 years for him to reach his potential they would’ve been better off using that money on Dillon Gabriel and Marcel ReedYes it was. Stiil, it's one thing to practice or play some snaps in mop up duty vs being the starting QB in the SEC with very little talent around him. Just hate that this staff may have wasted Nicos time here...how ever long it turns out to be. Watch him transfer, explode and win a natty or heistman. Such a UT thang.
Dude..... Jacob Eason had WR's something we don't have the luxury of atm. He also had a much better OL. You can not compare that. I wish he would just go ahead and transfer to a solidified program with an OL and WRs and shut all of you the hell up. The truth is if NICO played at OSU right now they would be undefeated and he would have Heisman before he left. If you don't believe watch and damn see. He has until midnightIf Nico was highly sought after by other universities willing to match his market value he would likely be gone by now. He’s simply not very good at the moment. Outside of Mecole Hardman Eason and Nico’s weapons were fairly comparable. Nico also didn’t have the luxury of having an OC/QB coach that had a long and proven track record of developing QBs (Jim Chaney, the guy that brought Hendon Hooker in that everyone thought was no good ) instead of taking already developed guys and teaching them how to run a system. I’m not putting it all on Nico, 70% of it is on the staff for not developing him and failing to recruit and develop NFL caliber OL and WRs and for not adapting their offensive philosophy to their personnel. I know we don’t have any sure fire NFL picks at WR, but there’s no way our talent has regressed to the point that our passing game is as non existent as it was, and if it has what does that say about this staff’s ability to evaluate and develop players? I also don’t doubt that Nico would do those things at Ohio State, because Ryan Day does an excellent job at developing QBs and hires assistants that do the same at their positionsDude..... And I wasn't saying that Nico doesnt need to improve. All players should have a goal of getting better. I agree and I think he will. Just wondering if it is gonna be as a VOL next season.Outside of Mecole Hardman Eason and Nico’s weapons were fairly comparable. Arch is sitting behind a QB that went into Alabama last year and busted their ass and was a former number 1 overall player and led them to the college football playoff.Dumb argument is dumb. If Nico wanted to leave, he would’ve have a problem. It seems Miami has reached out according to AP.
Texas paid a QB (Manning) that much or more to do exactly what you’re saying you don’t pay Nico to do.
Locking in on one side isn’t a Nico thing, it’s a this offense thing and largely a college football thing.
As to your last point about if it takes him 3-4 years to reach his potential, that’s true of nearly any player with elite potential.

Florida beats us as well as Georgia if Lagway starts and finishes both games. Lagway is light years ahead of him as far as pocket presence, seeing the field, arm strength, and has a build that translates much better to todays game than NicoDJ Lagway-115/192(59.9%), 1,915 Yds, 12TD/9INT, 57.7 QBR
Nico-213/334(63.8%), 2,616 Yds, 19TD/5INT, 70.3 QBR
I know you've established this persona as the "nega-vol" that some might find endearing in some bizarre way, maybe because you've played that role for years on here. But damn, it really gets tiresome. Not just you, but also your partners in crime who traverse the same path and claim to be such loyal fans.
Constructive criticism as part of a discussion is a great thing that enhances forums like this one, but constant unabated negativity just for its own sake gets so old and predictable.
There’s so much wrong in this post it’s hard to know where to start so I’ll break it down to multiple replies…..Arch is sitting behind a QB that went into Alabama last year and busted their ass and was a former number 1 overall player and led them to the college football playoff.
LMAO. You basically just repeated what I said.So thanks for thw validation. Bottom line he was 3rd string at best coming out of fall camp. That’s not “winning” the job.So, you're saying Nico has surpassed Peyton 2nd season Nico did come in and have Spring practice and this was 3rd post season game he practiced for but if hes
Nothing revisionist about it, Peyton won it over Brandon Stewart they went back and forth on playing time several games that year after Colquitt got hurt 1st game vs UCLA and Todd Helton played one game and quit to concentrate on baseball. Peyton finally won out, a bunch on here wanted Stewart because he was more mobile and could run better Stewart transferred to A&M and led them to the B-12 conference championship his Sr. year beating K State and knocking them out of the Natty. Him & Stewart were in a heated battle up to mid season Stewart was a top-notch college QB.
