Either he will cement himself as the guy, or if he struggles it could open the door to adding a portal qb. We haven’t been able to do that since it’s been widely assumed Nico is the guy next year, and no one transfers to sit the bench.

He absolutely is. And while he was a step back from Hooker, he played just fine and we had bigger problems than our QB this season, like a defensive secondary that couldn’t get us off the field on third downs. Appreciate Joe’s efforts and attitude.

Yep. Excited to see him, but I do feel a little sorry that his first start goes like this. Did he get 20 snaps all season? Now he goes against a top defense with 2 freshmen at WR and minus Wright and Small. Tough ask of the kid. Not sure Heupel did him any favors handling his playing time the way he did.
