Nkamhoua out for the season

Playing TN’s bigs versus their bigs could be wearing them down a bit before unleashing the small lineup on the opponents.
I only recall three recent games where our posts were wearing down the other team. Fulky against Arizona, Plav against LSU, and ON last week against A&M. Otherwise the eye test and stats show we are a much better team when guard oriented.

Yeah, but ON can play small-ball 5. Plavsic not so much. I never want to see anyone get hurt, but if we were going to lose a post player to injury we probably just lost our most valuable post-piece.

Fulkerson is going to have to nut up and play like he did against Arizona more consistently. We need him.

Facts. He has better hands than Uros, who struggles to catch a pass or put back a rebound. Not sure how it will impact defense but we shall see.

Well, that sure changed quickly. Went from “not that serious” on Saturday to out for the season. Damn! This sucks.
I hesitated to mention it at the time because Barnes, himself, had spoken on it, already, and not seemed to show much concern. But, Basilio mentioned in his postgame show on Saturday that he was hearing that there was internal cause for concern within the program re: the injury. Another cookie for Tony, I guess, but one I'd rather he not have earned and instead, been dead wrong about.

If this is true about the defense then my money is on Mashack
You're probably right, but defense was Aidoo’s calling card, as well, especially at the rim. Now, the real issue probably relates to team defense and its concepts. Given his lack of overall playing time, not sure it's realistic to believe he's where he needs to be in that regard.

They are more likely to get tired having another big leaning on them. I didn’t say wearing them out. I said wearing them down “a bit”. Our guards haven’t had an inclination to push the pace and wear anybody down by playing fast.

Definitely was looking like the most irreplaceable post player, like I said the other day silver lining could be forcing Barnes hand into more small ball, which has inarguably been our best lineup. Unfortunately it included ON at the 5, so some guys are gonna have to step up, hate it for him as he seemed like he might’ve been turning a corner.

Never want to see a player hurt, but if this forces Barnes into a smaller lineup- this may be a better team down the stretch. That’s what the stats say anyways.
We already play a lot of 4 guard line up, just don’t start the game with it. And that small ball lineup is best when it’s ON. That’s our best lineup and we don’t have that anymore. This is a tough loss.

Somebody needs step up and knock down the 10-12 footers. No threat there clogs it up under the rim and makes guarding the 3 easier.

I’m surprised that Diboundje hasn’t been mentioned by Barnes. He’s listed at 6’5”. Taller than Mashack and Bailey. Plus 20 pounds thicker than Powell (at 6’6”).

This is per Evan Miya…

Our best lineups are 4 guards, and either Fulk or ON out there, not much difference between the 2 from an efficiency standpoint. It’s gonna hurt, no doubt, Fulk needs to find a 2nd wind and Plav/BHH need to step up.

Can Fulkerson play 25 min/g and maintain his relative effectiveness? That’s about what he averaged last year during conference play. Uros might be capped at 20 or below anyway. Basically double BHH to 15mpg and 10 min split between Mashack and Aidoo depending on the matchup.

This injury blows for Nkamhoua.

Maybe JJJ gets some time at the center position in certain match up situations.

Terrible news for the team as we lack a post presence. Plavsic Fulk and bhh are going to have to step up in a big way.

His conditioning seems to be improving but he is consistently getting into foul trouble so he can’t seem to stay out there. He’s going to have to cut that out as we are going to need him to play 25 now going forward.
