No more Rupp Arena?

A lot of Confederate leaders were against slavery.....facts don't matter. Whats your point?

What's yours?

My point is that if you want to ban the Democratic Party name then ban the conservative ideology it held too.

Republicans at the time were largely split between moderates, liberals, and radicals. I am sure you are all about those groups now, right?

With all of the civil war monuments being taken down, when will the discussion start on the Democratic Party. This was the party of slavery leading up to and during the civil war. The pro-slavery party. The word Democratic should be struck from the historical record?
Plenty of groups are attempting to wipe the whole concept of democracy out of existence...two birds.

You’re confused. One party is about banning shizz and it ain’t the Republicans. Historically the Republicans left in charge after the Lincoln assassination were manipulative opportunistic closet racists who played on fear to maintain power. They eventually fled back to the slimy embrace of the Democratic Party.

Everything has a story, thats my point. Currently the woke group is just about perceived racism and names nothing more. They don't want to hear the stories. Therefore, you make a good point, I don't care.

You need to study the party systems in the US.

The Republican Party was the more liberal party in the 1860s and it was birthed out of anti slavery sentiment. It therefore was a party dominated by Northern liberals.

It is accurate to say some were closet racists but anti-slavery and much better than the conservative Democrats who were almost entirely pro-slavery and most definitely racists.

This party system held until several changes in the 1900s.

Among these was a growing influx of liberals/leftists into the Democratic Party during FDRs term.

From the 1930s to the 1960s, a factional battle ensued between liberal/left Democrats and mostly southern conservative Democrats (Racists). This battle largely ended with the signing of the Civil Rights Act which led many southern Democrats to realign to the Republican Party.

Thus why Democrats moves to more liberal social policies in the 1960s and Republicans begin to flex the "Law and Order/War on Drugs (really minorities)" at this time. They also win the South from this point on with few exceptions.

Everything does have a story. I personally think its fine to tell the story of the confederacy/other racists so long as it is in a museum and not glorifying it like many southern statues did (also most went up in 1910/20 and were put up to intimidate blacks).

I can agree that there are some people attacking names without doing due diligence but id say there are far more defending these names without any education as well.

I think you can “study” anything extensively and come out of it with the same determined narrative...kinda like what you just did. 😉

Where are they? Start speaking up? All I see is stuff being torn down and peoples names being ridiculed. Maybe Rupp was a racist at one time? If he grew up in the south, that would be equivalent to discrediting a person who grew up in Mecca for not growing up as a Christian.

Not true, there were definitely non racist and even anti racist people in the South.

So rather than refute my point, you say its just a narrative. This is exactly whats wrong with this country atm. Idiocracy.

I would love to hear historically point by point how my previous post was wrong. Its the literal facts, whatever your draw from that politically is up to you but those are the facts.

Sounds like YET ANOTHER narrative! You get facts and your personal take on such mixed up. You throw in “racist” and “conservative” and “pro-slavery” into your FACT pot and you spoil the stew...FACT. Your usage of “Idiocracy” receives honorable mention.

can someone please post what it was that Adolph said or did that makes him a racist? I'm legit asking. I don't know anything about him because I never cared. Just curious.

I think the Huffington Post reported that he once called one of his players the "N" word.
