Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

It shows where the media lacks knowledge wise the strength of teams nation-wide. Right now they hav Richmond, Fairfield and UNLV top 25 or just outside of it as well as some other questionable teams bas d on their records. 5th - 7th placed SEC teams would beat many of these teams badly. The team we crushed today was one of the best offensive teams efficiency-wise in the country but that is due to the level of competition they play at that mid major level. For whatever reason the media wants these mid major teams to have more representation and attempt to compare them to the power fives which is a joke.

Great post. BUT, I still think of all those at similar level, I feel like Tennessee drew one of the more skilled, and better coached teams, in that class for Round One. It was a terrific win today against a team that came in feeling extremely confident in each other, their staff, and their game plan.

Unfortunately for them, Tennessee also had confidence, and a great plan to right the ship after a mediocre first quarter.

Oh well it’s not really them but what they represent… “top 25” 13 seed who loses to Indiana by 33… same people voted Rickea honorable mention
I will say their pandering and whining about not being ranked was annoying tho. And their coaches behavior on the loss was embarrassing… “guess we had to be humbled”

FGCU MTSU SDSU and Green Bay all better than those 3 for mids

AP punishes losses too much and rewards crappy wins too much…

There needs to be change. Cry and twitter and get ranked is annoying (Fairfield)

Green Bays Head coach was a pretty Successful power 5 coach when he was at Michigan. He turned an absolutely terrible program around in 2-3 years prior to Arico-Barnes getting there. He left on his own accord because the Green Bay job opened up and he had roots there. He truly understands the game as does his team with the the way they drive, pass, kick and find really good shots. Their efficiency is one of the best in the nation in D-1. Green Bay was just outmatched today size wise and overall skill

Exactly my thinking, Dak. Kevin Borseth is an excellent coach and teacher, and so for Kellie's bunch to beat his well organized and scrappy team so soundly for three quarters today was quite a feat, and we should ALL be proud of the win.

When the brackets came out I felt like Tennessee as a 6 had the potentially toughest 11 seed for the first round. Of course, in hindsight Louisville is over there raising their hands saying, "Ummmm... MTSU might be pretty darn tough!" ...

But anyway, I've always admired the way Borseth has run his program, and so I'll admit that even though we had some physical advantages over them on paper, I was worried about their ability to make quick cuts through the paint that either get buckets or draw fouls. In the past we'd sometimes struggled to defend teams like GB, so I was worried.

But dang! If anyone could watch that game from the second quarter on and somehow still manage to be unable to allow themselves a few smiles and positive feelings about the possibilities going forward, then those people really need to find another team to follow or another pasttime altogether, because this team deserves the benefit of the doubt.

It's tournament time! It's the one time of the year when the best thing for EVERYONE is to set aside all logic and concern and worry and doubt and just go all in for our team and our staff as they try to catch a little magic.

IT DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE A WEAK PERSON IF YOU MAKE A CONSCIOUS DECISION TO CHOOSE JOY AND OPTIMISM FOR A THREE-WEEK PERIOD IN YOUR LIFE.

It really is okay, and a LOT OF FUN, to once a year just go nuts and not have to always feel like you have to be the one always ready and willing to "keep it real."

How about trying "keeping it fun" for a change? Seriously. It actually feels GREAT to choose to seek joy as you watch games instead of always seeking to find the worst of every game to use as ammunition to campaign for several families to lose their livelihoods.

BE BETTER. HAVE FUN.

I am Fairfield number 1 hater
What kind of person are you? Fairfield is a fine university, had a great year, and you hate them because the media gave them votes for the top 25? Sure, they probably weren't the 25th best school in the country, but all they did was work their buts off to achieve a tremendous record within the framework of their schedule and mid-major status. These kids at mid majors work just as hard to be successful, and they dream of getting to the tournament because only 1 school is picked to get there. What did the SEC get, 7, 8 teams in. Did the bottom teams really deserve to get in after having a mediocre season as opososed to a great season by Fairfield or any mid major? The large conferences seem to be entitled, but this is an open tournament. I think you just have a terrible attitude about this. Tennessee has been to every tournament, so getting there is no big deal, but to a mid-major this is something they dream about. They don't expect to win, but just getting there and being is one of their major goals. Give them a break, there are too many major teams that get in that don't deserve it. To us, the tournament is stressful, but to the parents of mid-majors that get in, the tournament is fun. Just leave them alone and let them have something they will remember for the rest of their lives. For them, it's not about winning, but being able to compete on the biggest stage in college basketball.

I think Lobo lied based on that uncomfortable pause.

She 100% lied and they all *suddenly* voted for her but somehow she’s not on there…sooooo

I appreciate Draya calling her out. Annoying because they were all wanting to sing Rickea’s praises yesterday and talk about her being a potential top 2 draft pick and one of the best players in the country.

They sure didn’t seem to remember all that when they were voting….

Too many UConn fans in the press corp. UConn having 2 players on any list this season is a joke.

Again not about Fairfield themselves (although I’m starting to change my opinion with their coaches comments)

But we see the tournament differently. It should be the BEST 64 teams… I don’t even believe in auto bids to some of these terrible teams. There’s a reason a top 4 seed or higher has never lost in the first round. We’re looking for a national champ not a platform for mids.

I’ve always said they need their own tournament. There should be a minimum requirement to make the NCAAs.

Mid major National Championships would be hype.

Literally only ONE upset yesterday. ONE

Vandy the lowly SEC team did prove that our terrible P5 teams are more deserving. And apparently every over one too except Louisville lmaoooo

Also I have like 3 other clarifying posts to this one

Liar liar pants on fire! Lobo SO lied, it was hilarious. Hand caught in cookie jar. I also appreciated Draya calling it out, she was busting a gut to say it.

Bueckers is a no brainer and Edwards has had a great year including 18 double doubles. Your problem shouldn't be why 2 UConn players are on the team but why Jackson is not. I think that she should be.

Tomorrow's game winner will assure both the Men's and Women's teams will be in Sweet 16.

N.C. State and Tennessee both advanced yesterday in the Men's tournament.

Probably doesn't matter in this forum though since some of you like Rick Barnes about as much as some people like Kellie Harper.
Remember Rick Barnes is mean some say on here.

His players seem to love him and have a great deal of respect for him as a coach, and the same thing with Kellie's players for her.
