Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Bueckers is a no brainer and Edwards has had a great year including 18 double doubles. Your problem shouldn't be why 2 UConn players are on the team but why Jackson is not. I think that she should be.
I know I am biased (forgive me LV fans šŸ˜¬), but Paige should be on first team AA, I agree. Edwards only got a honorable mention though, so not quite the same as actually making a team.

But Jackson should have been voted onto one of the teams, for sure. She at least got a HM, but should have taken a spot on the 2nd or 3rd teams.

Rickea has turned into a three level score, defender, and rebounder. The forwards on that list do some things well but not all things well. There's not a better forward in the country in the women's game right now. That list is biased just like the weekly national rankings.

Sorry, I didnā€™t mean to imply that she couldnā€™t or shouldnā€™t have made first team, I just meant thereā€™s no way she couldnā€™t have made at least beyond a HM! I think sheā€™s a great player and I agree that awards like that do come with bias.

Edwards was voted 2nd team by the USBWA. For me that's a good pick not only based on her statistics but also on her value to the team. Edwards should also have been selected for the AP team. I think the same is true about Jackson. Their stats are similar although I would give the edge to Edwards statistically.

Another tough loss for an Orange team. Syracuse trailed by double digits at the half but like UTenn they made a close game of it by outscoring UConn in the 2nd half. After Syracuse closed to within 3, UConn sealed the win with a 3 from freshman KK Arnold and a couple of free throws. Bueckers had 30 and freshman Ashlyn Shade had 19. She is averaging 23 in the tournament so far.

Women's basketball has never been hotter. Many of the games have been great, there are so many stars and rising stars, and the crowds have been big and never this universally raucous. Even on the West Coast, when did Stanford's crowd stay at a sustained fervor pitch throughout a game as against Iowa State, both L.A teams had crowds of about 9000 on the same day when that would have been a historic crowd at either place until this year, and crowds at places like UCONN and LSU that expect to win became unusually loud when their respective teams were challenged.
Way to go WBB!

Missing out on Shade, who made six visits, really hurt. She could have been a difference maker in several games including today.

Sheā€™s one of the ones who got what Will Wade would have called ā€œa strong-ass offerā€ from certain teams, but that fact is a bit inconvenient for some folks ā€˜round here, so.
