Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Don't care, it was great! Of course the LVs rampaged thru the tourney every year, once beat Vandy by 50 there. 99% of the crowd was rabid LV. Seating? What seating? Those were the days.
Your memory is very bad. Tennessee hardly rampaged through the tournament every year. Of the seven years it was played in Chattanooga, the LVs won four, Vandy won two, and Auburn won one. The LVs lost in their first game to Georgia in ‘93 (quarters).
Also, Tennessee never beat Vandy by 50 there. The LVs were 2-1 against Vandy in Chattanooga. UT won by 25 in the ‘94 finals; Vandy won by 6 in the ‘95 finals; UT won by 8 in the 2000 semis. Maybe you’re thinking about the ‘98 tournament in Columbus when arguably the greatest team in the history of WCBB demoralized Vandy by 61, 106-45.

What Gule said. It ain't about fair it's about money. What venue will put the most money in SEC coffers?

Have you ever been to a SEC Womens Basketball Tournament? I have been to two in Nashville's Bridgestone Arena. Over half the crowd are wearing orange on day one when Tennessee doesn't play until day three. When we make the finals, 3 quarter's of 18,000 Bridgestone are wearing Orange. We have money also.

It would be an interesting elite 8 in South Carolina's bracket should these brackets hold. Either Uconn or South Carolina wouldn't be going to the final 4 this year.

What do we have to do to keep the projected 4 seed? At least semis with a good showing there? Also will depend on what the teams directly above and below us do. Or we could make it easy and just get to the finals and lock up the home games.

Yes, I would say competitive semi appearance secures a 4 seed. If we were to make it to the final there is potential for a 3 seed I would think.

Feel sure UConn will weasel their way to a 2 seed. Don’t know what that would do to the brackets.
Not sure how. They don't play any teams ranked in the top 25 the rest of the way out. At least they might get a rematch against unranked Villanova who is the number 2 seed, but most likely it will be DePaul or Marquette. The S.O.S. goes down against the teams they play in the their tournament.

Agree totally, which is why I say weasel. I think they were the top 3 seed and Iowa St seems vulnerable as a 2 seed. Hope it doesn’t happen.

That is very true. That was a bad 25 point loss to Baylor on Iowa States' home court today. Even though Baylor is ranked a bit higher than Iowa State, that's pretty ugly.
