Non-Lady Vol Basketball News 2024-25

Yeah AZ is headed for the crapper imo. That program was Aari McDonald, not Adia Barnes. I think Barnes has one of the worst attitudes/personalities in the sport as well. One more year with as many controversies as she had last season and she’ll be out of a job. Her tongue is continuously quicker than her brain.

You think so? She just made a national championship appearance and they have the #1 class for 2023.

I don’t think Arizona is going to be great. They had McDonald and she was a difference maker. Yes she has a number 1 class but UCLA has also had top classes. I think of the PAC12 as just good but soft and never making it too too far unless they’re Stanford or they have a bonafide star.

You must not have seen the recruiting class she is bringing in. If she continues to recruit like that, she will be at Arizona as long as her heart desire. The talent she will have in the future will be better than the one she took to the national championship game.

total trivia: Minnesota as we know lost their key players who didn't meld with their coach. their 2022-3 roster includes seven freshmen all from < Minnesota.

3 of them are very good though! Amaya Battle, Mara Braun, and Nia Holloway will all be positive additions to the program from what I’ve seen. They were really banking on Tessa Johnson who committed to South Carolina. If Whalen can keep her Minn players home she can build a competitive program. The past five years she’s lost Paige Bueckers, Maya Nnaji, Taylor Woodson, Makenzie Kramer, Annika Stewart, Nu Nu Agara, Jenna Johnson and Gianna Kneepkens. Had some of them decided to stay home Minnesota definitely would be a top 25 team.

I’m not waiting two years to see what any team looks like based on players that haven’t played a single game in college and the portal being the ultimate prize right now in collegiate sports. I don’t know why people keep posting like it’s a given that any player will be at the same school they commit to the following year.
Face reality or keep making nonsense predictions based on 2 to 3 years in the future that are just as unlikely as they may be likely to never come to fruition with the current landscape of college sports!

Az plays anything but soft. Their team makeup is grit and effort.

I wasn’t impressed at all with LSU. Decent athleticism compared to last years LSU team. I’ve see their new players that were held out and this team will probably struggle against tough competition even with their full roster unless they just weren’t motivated to play this exhibition at all and can elevate their level of play up a notch or two, MAYBE three.
If Tennessee comes out flat Sunday, then perhaps I can say it’s just an exhibition! Cause for anyone to say LSU looked good they have to be giving them the benefit of the doubt.
When you platoon Sub every 5 minutes and leave one of the better players in women's college basketball on the bench, you not gonna look great. They still won by 50. I worry about LSU when we have to play them mid-season in Baton Rouge.

Reese was icing her ankle during the game. It be dumb on her part if she attempted to play her if there is a risk of further aggravating that. She knows good and well the key to the entire season for them is keeping her healthy

What other SEC teams are playing an exhibition this weekend?

Maybe to get a look at other players. LSU will have a decent team.

I expect Coach Harper to spread out minutes and evaluate this very talented roster on Sunday!

Yeah, I think Sunday is just going to be a Calm Some Nerves game and that's about it. Six players will run out of the tunnel wearing their Tennessee uniforms for the first time in front of a very excited crowd. That's a LOT to need to calm down from. :)

I just want everyone on both teams and their fans to enjoy themselves. I can't wait!

She can’t coach offense to save her life.
I share that same thoughts although one thing that South Carolina, and even that 2019 Baylor team showed is having a stout defense and being really good on the boards is good enough to win one. That said, you can't be that inept offensively no matter how good those other two aspects are.

Lets see what they can get out of that 2023 class. If they can't make chicken salad with that group, something is wrong...

I haven't seen this posted, but I just saw on ESPN that Sedona Prince at Oregon, by way of Texas, has torn a ligament in her elbow, requiring surgery, and ending her collegiate career.

Wow! That sucks! I always felt she was a great talent that never really got the chance to shine like she should have.

She’s not a great coach.
