'25 Northwestern Transfer OL Josh Thompson

Sorry about yesterday btw dude. Sick kids, work/ business stress. Rough week
Yes, I am sorry as well.

Sports bring out the best and they bring out the worst. We all have opinions, and sometimes we try to shove opinions down others throats (not saying you did!). We all want to be the best because we love the Vols.

I love everyone on here, and I do mean that. No harm, no foul. I’d drink a beer with you and anyone on here any day of the week.

Go Vols, brother.

Shouldn’t have to use it this much if we had an o-line coach that could develop talent.

Only 5 guys can start on OL. Cooper and Sprags have been playing since ‘Nam. So really only 3 spots up for grabs. And that’s just this year. Last season Ollie Lane started as a 6th year Sr.

Sanders will probably just transfer if he isn’t starting. What good are our 5 stars if they’re in the bench? We aren’t in position yet to have elite talent on the bench.

If he’s not ready to beat out guys who didn’t sniff the field over John Campbell and Dayne Davis, then I think that’s a bit of a head scratcher.

Yeah except it is possible for players to get better from one year to the next. Those players will also have the advantage of yet another year in the system and not starting from square one.

You’re right that it’s possible for them to get better, but thats based on the assumption that their position coach develops them. I’ve seen no evidence to suggest that Elarbee is capable of doing that which is why I emphasize that Sanders needs to be ready to roll from day one. What’s behind him likely isn’t going to be very good if they weren’t as good as Campbell or Davis by the end of the season. That’s just reality.

Figuratively speaking, he is absolutely the equivalent of our first round draft pick given the financial investment it took to get him here and the hype surrounding him. He’s gotta contribute early. Plain and simple.
Nico must of been a terrible first round pick,
He was pretty much a non contributor his first year. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Hypothetically , but we’re counting on Elerby to develop them so it’s no guarantee.
Another year in the system may be a negative

He had a sixth year senior in front of him who was locked in as the guy for that season. The right tackle spot is wide open. Very different scenarios.
No it’s not.
He was first rounder so he should have been expected to contribute at once so you seem to believe.
6th year senior wasn’t great so under your thinking a first rounder should of beaten him out

LT - Heard
LG - Karic
C - Moe
RG - Thompson
LT - Someone out of the portal.

Not saying this is what I want. Just trying to placate those portal people. Every one on this list would have come from the portal.

The problem as I see it, we did not do a lot of developing those younger guys on the roster: Satterwhite, Jeremias Heard, Lang (in portal), Warren, Bussell, Reddick, Anderson, Duncan, Grant, J Perry, Johnson, Ginther, and Umarov…not withstanding those with injuries. We, the fans, do not know if any of them can consistently get the job done. Caveat: Many players need a couple years to sit and learn (and practice).

It’s hard to recruit the 4-5* HS OL if we have a history of sitting them on the bench. In today’s world, top tier recruits who don’t play and/or get developed end up in the portal themselves.
