Not bashing Tee Martin, but

just turned 50....I don't want him back, I'm big on loyalty, sorry man, your opinion my opinion, thats all

Which is how you get stuck with a bunch of mediocre coaches with few prospects. In the real world, the best coaches value competency.

Tee is a good coach, and a very good recruiter. He will get a job quickly. The next USC coach could keep him on because of his ties to the south.

Yeah, why would we need a top recruiter and good coach when it's more important to make some nonsensical point about being a "VFL"? That'll teach him!
I don't necessarily like Azzani as a coach, but he's done a pretty darn good job of recruiting, thus far...so, what's your point?

Relying on the future of Lane Kiffin isn't a smart family decision.
Yeah really. He had to know if things went bad, and they likely were going to this year, that Kiffin was on the chopping block. I think Eric might be right with the Baby Mama stuff. Although i know nothing about it. There had to be another reason. Either way i bet he wishes he'd made a better choice. He'll land on his feet somewhere else. His stock hasn't dropped any because Kiffin was a azzclown..

It seems the majority of people on here are not married. Reason saying this is one of the reasons Tee stayed at Usc was because of his wife, she is trying to build a career in acting. Now I am not saying this is the only reason he stayed out there, but I commend him for supporting his wife in this and would not be suprised if he didn't stay on the west coast somewhere to continue this. He helped UT win a national championship while here, but as usual that's not enough for this fan base No sir mister Martin you have to jump when the fan base says jump or we will call you a traitor or what ever.
Well Tee I for one greatly appreciate what you did while you were here and feel you have paid our great university back plus some. I am sure he is still a vfl and always will be, but does he owe this university or especially this fan base anything else. .?.. NO!!! I hope him and his FAMILY have a great and wonderful life NO MATTER WHERE IT IS.

I don't....and he'll have a few months to stew on his decision to give his own alma mater the stiff arm/middle finger.

What makes him a good coach? The success he had at UK or USC?

You can either take a look at the fact that he had UT and USC in a bidding war for him or wait and see how desired he will be if he isn't retained at USC.

Y'all don't know. His decision to move there was a family one. His wife is pursuing a career in R&b and they have a lot of connections and supporters there and they felt by them leaving it would set her back. He really wanted to be at tennessee but at the end of the day momma has to be happy. Stop bashing this man for takin care of his wife.

Negative. When his alma mater needed him the most, he turned his back on them. What's the ole' saying...."Burn me once, shame on you. Burn me twice, shame on me."

Exactly. This University was very good to him. We needed him and he said no. Johnny Majors had a good thing going at Pitt when we called him home to rebuild the program and he came. People of character know there is more to a decision than just "business" sometimes.

The point is that fans act like a bunch of catty teenage girls over Martin. People would rather tell Martin he isn't welcome to "teach him a lesson about loyalty" (as if he would just sit there without work, rueing not taking the Vols job) over actually getting a good coach on the staff.

And, at this point, I would pretty much clean out the offensive staff. They're horrible and haven't any clue out there.

Well I guess we know who wears the pants in the Martin house. So did they move to LA to pursue her interest or for him to coach under the punk?

The decision was both. It was a big opportunity mainly for her but also his goal is to become offensive coordinator soon, so going out to USC supported his goal but most of all gave his wife a very good opportunity. It was a win win, he gets a great job and his wife gets to be on a big stage

While I think your post is admirable and true on the surface-I hope and pray that I never find myself in a position where I am trying to convince myself that turning my back on my roots and tying myself to a man like Lane Kiffin is what's best for my family.

He has children In Knoxville from a previous relationship in which he takes great care of and they love him. Quit trying to find reasons to bash Tee.

Hell no!!! Stay your arse out there in Fairy Land. You made your bed...now lie in it.

I've made a great many mistakes in my life and I can say for certain that I wish someone would have treated me like this instead of helping me get my life back on track.

Since you are obviously an insider to the family what will Tee do if not retained by USC (highly unlikely). Wait tables? be the WR coach at a local high school? Or will they move where he can get paid several hundred thousand a year to be a D1 staff?

The wife thing is a ridiculous excuse. He was a good QB but has no loyalty and to me that is a sign of less then optimal character. They will move for HIS job.

Jesus, are you Tee Martin? You sure seem to know a lot about his family. Or are you just making assumptions?
