It's a darn shame that Volnation is so saturated and besotted with people who are just plain hateful and spiteful. Not to mention ignorant. His wife had an entertainment gig or something and objected to moving to Tennessee. Anyone who is married to a strong-willed wife knows a woman can make your life miserable and beyond under certain circumstances. Just try working all day and part of the night, come home to a grumpy unhappy wife and see how long you last. Peace has its virtues even when it pisses off fans who don't have any darn sense. Nor care about their heroes unless they practically kneel to kiss your crack just because you say so. No wonder folks elsewhere look at Tennessee people as dumb hicks. Especially when so many act like that's exactly what they are. What's funny in a non-humorous way is that an ex-Viking player (kicker) from some European nation this recent summer stated that America is a nation of haters. This ticked me off big time. But seeing so much of it on the board, I wonder if he has it right after all, at least as far as it applies to Tennessee fans.
And here is the first a$$hole that bashes a guy that made a job choice as a family decision.
I guess you are the guy that prolly bashes any Vol at any chance you can.
couldn't agree more! Kiff got his!
I would love to have Tee back. Kids in Tennessee love the guy. He loves Knoxville he has said it before. You got to realize he has kids and to anybody that has kids that is the 1st thing you should think about in life not some game or VFL stuff. He bleeds orange he is just a good hearted guy and cares about his family...
There is nothing wrong with choosing a job you think is better fit for you. Whats wrong is the way he did it. Made us beg him....played it all out on tv, locally ond on ESPN.To choose Tennessee's most hated enemy (Kiffin) and rub it in our faces nationally. He is not a Vol to me no matter what he did as a player. I don't wish him ill will I just don't give a damn what the hell he does. I'm not gonna waist any of my time pondering about it. Don't ever offer him a job here....he's not welcome. Maybe Kiffy will hire you at po-dunk-u.
Most of these bashers are prolly 15 years old or single. Tee has a family and had to make a family decision. I respect him for that. I hope we can find a way to bring him back. Hopefully this is a door opening with Kiffin being fired.

While I am not a hater and get pissed at the constant negativity on this site, I do favor the side that doesn't think we need to immediately call him.
I for one, NEVER said we should call him immediately or even at all. All I did was express despair and wonder at the hateful and spiteful posts regarding Tee.
He had a chance to come back to his alma mater, where he won a national title. It's not like he turned down any job. He would have enhanced his legendary status even more. I respect any man who makes that decision because they have to feel comfortable with it. But coaching is a profession with constant turnover, and he understands the gig. I am just surprised that he stayed with a coach who was publicly and clearly on the hot seat.
I stayed with an employer for 14 years that was often in the news for misappropriation of funds and sex related scandals. Who left hard working employees out to dry while granting undeserved favors to cronies and family members (nepotism), and got caught trying to find ways to siphon our retirement contributions into their own pockets. I stayed because I genuinely cared about the students' education and hoped to make a difference for them in a place that didn't really give a damn. What motivated Tee to stay? His haters here neither know nor care.
IMO, Butch gave him a shot, and I see no reason why Butch would or should ask again. Actually, i think its a slap in the face to our current staff who have made the commitment to represent our fine school.
As I understand it, he was snubbed more than once before. On top of that, USC simply outbid the UT. The man has a family. We're taught that God first, family second, everything else is third. But some fans damn him for that. Maybe it's best he don't come here anyway. Seeing as how people will turn on him at a moments notice. I think if he sat and crossed his legs instead of macho spreading them like a biker riding his Harley hog, people here would damn him for that too. Why come to a place where people, by all appearance, just sit back waiting for you to make the slightest error so they can spew venom at you?
I think Tee and Jay will have to work real hard to have another chance to come back.
Personally, I hope they never come back. They don't deserve to be treated the way they are on this board.
Lets move on. You can call me a redneck if you want, but I do have 2 degrees.
Big deal. One doesn't have to be a redneck to be a jackass. Degrees doesn't mean you can't be a jackass either. Not that you're a jackass. I have a lot more respect for you than you realize. You wrote a post that stated your position intelligently. Disagreed without being obnoxious. Quite frankly, I think too many people of any background or ethnicity are too darn stupid and arrogant to do what you did. Jerry Springism is alive and well here and nationally. Once again, my issue is the swiftness at which UT fans turn on their own, and the level of outright hate that's so explicitly illustrated here. It's the behavior not the skin color or depth of red in the neck or number of degrees I'm referring to. I'd say the same thing if I was a Grambling alumni and a member of their board. Same thing I was a Darmouth University of little Centre College board member.
I feel very bad for him. He uprooted his family to move to the West Coast. I guess I never realized that wanting Kiffin to fall right on his face meant Tee, one of the greats at UT, to also end up in a bad situation. My only wish? To see Tee be interim!!!
Good Luck Tee. Bring her on home to Rocky Top next year!!!
