Notice of Allegations Released!

They ask for pretty much everything short of a stool sample, but should it be concerning that they ask for our TV schedule and contractual comittments for the next 3 seasons (section 21.k)?

Also, is the investigation over or on-going, they ask for a ridiculous amount of info, especially in section 21 if this is just our response to current allegations. Not sure if all that info request is asked of all institutions being bent over.. er investigated by the AA.

Other than being asked for all the info, it generally doesnt read as bad as the speculation has been, to me anyway. Bad definitely, but to me no real surprises I guess.

Aside from the punishment that's already been doled out by the SEC, I'm hoping Bruce's philanthropic outlays and his charity work and such will be viewed by the ncaa as mitigating circumstances when it comes time to work up what they deem to be suitable punishment. As far as I know, Jim Calhoun had none of that to use as a bargaining chip and he got off quite easily.
Cal helped raise a million dollars for Haitian relief. I guess that means he has lifetime immunity.

They are asking for some crazy stuff. I would assume they are just covering their ground to make sure they didnt miss anything in the bending over. :birgits_giggle:

I don't really hate the guy. I think he's a good, not great coach. I just don't care for his "phony" demeanor.

What makes him phony? I think he genuinely cares about the University of Tennessee and its fans. I know he made some bad mistakes, ones he probably won't survice, but I would say calling him phony is a stretch. I have been wrong before.

I think hes a good coach as well, but who could we get thats a better coach after this all shakes out. Likely, nobody.

I agree. We do have great facilities and pleanty of money to hand out, but that hasn't helped us land the "big name" before. If UT wasn't a desireable job before in Bball, what makes it so desireable now after the NCAA mess?

Tennessee could find plenty of suitable candidates. The facilities are good enough that a lot of good coaches would love the opportunity.

My search would start with Mike Anderson and then go to Greg Marshall. One of those two would accept.

It could possibly help us get a coach since we have made a name for ourselves in basketball. But if we are hit with any significant punishment, we better just stick it out with BP.

Well just because they didnt furnish info, doesnt mean they were keeping it from them. Its a possibility they had something the AA wanted and didnt realize it. Or they could have just played dumb. Either way.

I was never suggesting that they were not guilty, and neither was I saying that the coaches did not lie to the AA, and I was not defending it in any way.... I was simply questioning as to if the written statement does or does not fall short of this much anticipated "Lying" to the AA that is suppose to be the finally downfall of the entire Vol nation

He tells us how sorry he is on Sept 11 and then on the 14th gets dinged for a violation?

Let's all keep in mind who brought on the basketball mess.

Bruce sells himself on honesty. He acts like he is the nicest and most moral coach in college athletics. Look at his past. He had the incident with Illinois, he committed violations at Milwaukee, and of course we all know of the past incidents at Tennessee. It's probably not fair to add about his off court troubles with his wife, but he's consistent to both, I guess.

UT had never made the commitment to bball in money and facilities until Bruce got here. There is actually something to sell now

Not if we had AA penalties on us.

There are good and some great coaches out there who UT might get to take the job. The problem is it will be damn hard to find one that is any cleaner than Pearl. Let this sink in, they all cheat and lie. I'm not saying that makes it right, it is just what it is. So, if you think UT will find that Cinderella coach who wins national championships and is squeaky clean, it could be a long search.

Bruce is toast and should be....

Please watch your step on your way down from your high horse! Let me throw a hypothetical out for you. Suppose u are traveling down I40 slightly exceding the speedlimit and ur buddy shoots u a text and u respond with a quick reply of ok. Nothing big right. Well the police officer notices u doing this and pulls u over. When he comes to the window he says u were speeding and notices ur cell in ur lap and asks the question if u were texting(knowing full well u were)? How do u respond?

Both Bruce and Hamilton will be fine, those who have called for heads to roll will be very dissapointed. I'm not saying that there is no blame to go around here, but those who have been speculating due to their own personal axe to grind have set themselves up for a monumental fail
