UT had never made the commitment to bball in money and facilities until Bruce got here. There is actually something to sell now

I agree, but was that commitment made because of Bruce? I am a Bruce supporter, but if it is best for UT to move on I am all for it. I hope UT can hire a great coach with Pear's type success, but until Pearl got here that hadn't happened.

Do you think it will hurt UT worse to keep him or let him go?

I don't think they will base their punishment on whether or not we keep him. If UT does fire him, It would be after the punishments are announced I would think. Who knows though. NCAA is what it is.

If Pearl is going to be hit hard, the decision has to be made after the season, IMO. Holding onto a suspended coach is going to look awful for the program, in my opinion.

it was made by the new AD who saw basketball could coexist with football. We had been looking for one of those longer than we had a good coach

I know who it was made by, but was it made because he realized basketball could coexist becasue of the passion BP brought to the program?

The question is will UT know how hard BP will get hit before the punishment comes down? I don't know. Serious question.

Interesting.

Pearl's punishment came down on Sept 11, 2010. He wasn't allowed to recruit off campus from Sept 4.

3 days later the NCAA dings him and Jones for talking with a player at the high school.

Hmmmm......

It's September 24th, not Sept 4th.

I would think so too. I didn't see anything really new in there
I still think he should be fired, unless it can be determined that he'll get nothing significantly more than what Calhoun got. If it's questionable, he has to go.

I think it will take significant missed time for him to be fired. Any new coach will have to deal with the limitations from the NCAA (that I think we get) but your HC missing games does nothing for the program. I just think the first one hit too late for MH to really do anything.

A couple of questions for those of you more in the know than myself.

1. What is "show cause" and how would this lead to the firing of BP?

2. Is there a difference b/w "unethical conduct" which everyone was worried about prior to the letter's release, and "acting contrary to the principles of ethical conduct" which is what the letter actually says?

Thanks in advance.

Please watch your step on your way down from your high horse! Let me throw a hypothetical out for you. Suppose u are traveling down I40 slightly exceding the speedlimit and ur buddy shoots u a text and u respond with a quick reply of ok. Nothing big right. Well the police officer notices u doing this and pulls u over. When he comes to the window he says u were speeding and notices ur cell in ur lap and asks the question if u were texting(knowing full well u were)? How do u respond?

If the cop shows you a picture of you texting while driving then asks you the same question, how do you respond?

The unethical conduct charge is what gets me...that might be the kicker.

Either Pearl and company did a terrible job logging phone calls, or they just totally didn't care about the rules...I know it's telephone calls, but still.
