Underrated thought AND post. Callahan might be a wet blanket sometimes but he does play his cards close to the vest. There IS a reason for him not submitting a CB yet. It’s cuz Mount Washington is a VAWL and he knows it. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, Vol til he ain’t!!!I do not believe he has signed with anyone at this point. He may have signed the LOI, but was it submitted? There has to be a reason Callahan has not put in his CB as of yet.
My own belief is that when he said he put pen to paper, he meant that he signed scholarship papers with four schools, which are non-binding for his part. All he has to do is appear for registration at the school that he actually chooses.I do not believe he has signed with anyone at this point. He may have signed the LOI, but was it submitted? No idea if been talked about since haven’t followed board a few days... there were some highlights of him running routes that rivals posted where I thought to myself “ he has some of the slowest feet getting in and out of a break that a safety has all day to react” perhaps he just was going through the motions of a practice rep?
And probably faked out UGA and the media making them think or believe he’s coming there. Give em the ole razzle dazzle. My own belief is that when he said he put pen to paper, he meant that he signed scholarship papers with four schools, which are non-binding for his part. If you're serious and really wanting to know:
He's told us several times that the coaches will be flying out to see a recruit etc., before even the paid sites know. (Crouch as 1 example but several others).
Same thing with kids secretly visiting.
You can go back to the beginning of this thread. We were NOT supposed to be in this battle to begin with, AV is the only one that said "yes we are, just wait for it".
No one thought we'd get a late visit from DW but AV not only said we would, but we would get his last official. These things may seem minor now but they were crazy at the time. I could do many more but honestly, it's already "tldr" material.
You're either BSing or seriously uninformed on the talent that Pruitt inherited. The Vols had high recruiting rankings in 2014 and 2015 that you appear to be factoring into your "average" recruiting class that Pruitt inherited. But, Pruitt only got to work with 13 guys total from those two classes, and he only worked with 2 guys for more than one year. The majority of these 13 guys were overrated by the recruiting services like Drew Richmond, Dillon Bates, and Quarte Sapp. Others like Darren Kirkland, Chance Hall, Todd Kelly, amd Kyle Phillips were already damaged goods when Pruitt arrived.
Then, the Vols recruiting dropped off significantly in 2016 and 2017, and further in 2018 when Pruitt had just a few weeks to salvage a recruiting class after helping Bama win its last NC.
By SEC standards, Pruitt inherited a weak roster with very few playmakers, weak lines, and little in the way of impact players at LB or DB.
By comparison, the roster Smart inherited was stacked. Too bad he botched one NC opportunity with that 4th and 9 fake punt and a couple of time outs in his pocket.
I see this broken down again and again, people who only look at the averages of last 4 years ignoring attrition are morons. Pruitt has worked wonders and will finally have a mostly full roster next year.Okay, lets sink our teeth into the "high recruiting rankings in 2014 and 2015" that he inherited:
2014: #7 class in the country
Josh Malone high 4*: 4th Round of 2017 draft
Jalen Hurd high 4*: Transferred out (Baylor) in 2017
TKJr high 4*: years of poor S&C under Jones, spent 2018 injured
Dillon Bates mid 4*: 9 tackles in 3 years prior, did nothing in 2018
Dewayne Hendrix mid 4*: Transferred out (Pitt) in 2014
Derrell Scott mid 4*: Transferred out (ECU) in 2014
Cortez McDowell low 4*: didn't redshirt and graduated in 2017
Gavin Bryant low 4*: Transferred out (WKU) in 2017
So, Pruitt got exactly jack (*#& there. He "inherited" an injured TKJr and Dillon Bates.
2015 is just about the same:
Kahlil McKenzie unanimous 5*: Did nothing at DT then left as a JR in 2018, going in the 6th Round. He was waived and is now on a practice squad.
Kyle Phillips 5*: Did nothing and (like a lot of players) got injured a lot under Jones. Finally did something in 2018 under Pruitt.
Kamara high 4*: Left after 2017
Preston Williams high 4*: Transferred out (CSU)
Shy Tuttle high 4*: Started well, got hurt bad in cheap shot from UGA. Struggled in 2018.
Drew Richmond high 4*: Had a legacy at UT as an overrated and weak OL. Didn't change in 2018. Transferred out (USC) in early 2019.
Jack Jones high 4*: Medically retired in 2017
Darrin Kirkland mid 4*: Medical issues through 2018, medically retired in 2019
Jauan Jennings mid 4*: We all know about him
Quart'e Sapp low 4*: left after 2018 after doing exactly nothing and it was a good decision to declare for the NFL draft. He didn't get drafted.
Micah Abernathy low 4*: Senior in 2018
Sheriron Jones low 4*: Left in 2017 (JUCO)
Justin Martin low 4* (JUCO): Left after 2017
Andrew Butcher low 4*: Medically retired in 2017
Quinten Dormady low 4*: Transferred out (CMU) in early 2018
Darrell Taylor low 4*: Monster year in 2019, had 3 sacks in 2 years before Pruitt, has 15 in 2 years under Pruitt.
So, basically, with 2 full classes he could have gotten, he got a bunch of weak and physically broken players as well as Jennings and Taylor. 2 players.
Thanks. That's what I was wanting to know. Giving AV the benefit of the doubt, recruiting info seems a lot like a meteorologist trying to forecast the weather.

Fantastic breakdown! Thanks for posting
Did u just call kyle Phillips damaged goods? Had a nice senior year under Pruitt and is now starting games in the NFL
