Obama stimulus plan

they absolutely should. it's the unfair share that's the problem.

I assume by paying fair share you mean that there should be zero, nada, none, zilch freeloaders. I like that idea.

Except for health care for their off spring, that should be free

Should have expected that. :)

Really though, since the bill is here your idea isn't really an option. (though I like it myself) Are there ANY portions of it you (or anyone) thinks might actually do something?

The only thing the 1.7 trillion will do is delay the process of recovery.

i'd argue that the wealthy more than pay their fair share in this country. in my previous post i'm using obama's definition of fair share.

This is for '06. I believe this is the most recent yet available but if someone has newer I'd like to see it.

Yeah, we need to be just like France and Germany and have our GNP be 40% government!

What a bunch of crap!

well i'm sure having socialized healthcare has nothing to do with that 40%. it must actually be saving people money.

Exxon Mobil paid more in taxes in one year than 50% of the US working population.

there's nothing fair about a progressive tax system, especially when those at the bottom receive a disproportionate amount of government largess compared to their contribution.

no, no, no. You have it all wrong. The Northeastern elites and those inhabiting campuses are the ones electing them. It has nothing to do with that bottom 50% who pay nearly none of the tax burden. Most of those folks are conservative Republicans.

They should have. They recorded record profits and trimmed their workforce at the same time. It is one of the great fallacies about the company. They AREN'T creating jobs as many think

how can they create jobs when they can't DRILL FOR OIL?

so if you don't directly create jobs you should have to pay higher taxes? explain this logic please.

So evil!

We should cap them!

Better yet, we should nationalize oil!

You know, to professionalize, you must first federalize!

They have trimmed jobs in other areas of the company. The jobs created by drilling won't come close to the number they have eliminated
and???? they still paid more taxes than 50% of our population, which paid for more guv'ment cheese and guv'ment jobs than we can even account for.

Not to mention, they still employ an assload (technical econometrics term) of Americans.

You know, not every company can be like the government and keep jobs and run billions over budget.

I still dont' see the connection between paying higher taxes and creating jobs. i bet apple has far fewer employees per revenue than exxon mobile, but no one wants a profit tax on them.
