I still dont' see the connection between paying higher taxes and creating jobs. i bet apple has far fewer employees per revenue than exxon mobile, but no one wants a profit tax on them.

how about a tax on on trust funds? Kennedy and Buffet would become capitalists overnight.

so if you don't directly create jobs you should have to pay higher taxes? explain this logic please.

Never said that. Please don't put words in my mouth. You're way off base. One of the great republican priniciples is that you shouldn't tax the most profitable because they are supposedly the ones creating jobs. I was making a point of fact about Exxon. They had record profits.

Read the posts. If you can't or don't understand them, I will explain them for you.

but apple is changing the world in creating jobs, regardless how few it might actually create.

This is just dead wrong. You don't tax them because they create investment capital, which they invest into earning enterprise, which generates new revenues down the road.

They have trimmed jobs in other areas of the company. The jobs created by drilling won't come close to the number they have eliminated

so they're increasing efficiency? I thought that was a good thing.

Who in this forum said Exxon should be levied an additional profit tax?

Do you even read the posts? or do you just read a couple of words and then apply your reactionary interpretation of it

Who said it wasn't.

All I said is they should have paid the tax they were levied. It is all you guys trying to spin and interpret it into something else

What you have not addressed is the fact that 50% of Americans only pay 2.99% of the taxs.

Who says they can't drill? I thought they had plenty of land already leased for drilling that they are just sitting on?

Yes, places that are very poor prospects for oil and hardly worth what they would invest to get to the oil.

Honest question - then why in the heck do they hold the lease?

Not completely sure on that one, probably because they prospected there some time ago and initial results showed deposits of oil? I do not know, maybe others can enlighten us.
