Obamacare Survives SCOTUS

Incorrect. The bolded forms the statement why anybody with any common sense should be against this.

Link?

Are you claiming that less people pay in to the system due to the existence of the ACA than would be paying in if it had not been enacted?

I could link a copy of my healthcare costs over the last 6 years ago I guess. Do you really want to play the link game with the publically available healthcare costs?

The bolded is clear. People are paying more on the whole. To try and claim otherwise is ludicrous

I know that, but that is not the issue. Try to follow along.... because of the ACA more people are at least paying something into the overall system than would otherwise be.

No they aren’t. Somebody already linked earlier the level of uninsured. The ACA is an abject failure since the unconstitutional mandate was removed and levels of uninsured aren’t dramatically different. Yet government interference has grown and costs have skyrocketed more. Yay! Crushing it.

Passed in secret.
Absolutely no bipartisan involvement.
Ignored actual doctors input from fellow congress members.
Raised costs, directly defeating the purpose.
Was sold as a cure but just made things worse.
Didnt insure everyone, but still had issues and ran over budget.

But yeah, Obama was the only issue we had...

Tennessee’s attorney general is appointed by the Supreme Court.
Oh didn’t know that actually. Has it always been that way since the initial state constitution? Probably a better method frankly since it relies on what should be an apolitical process.

It’s been over 30 years since I could (legally anyway 😎) vote in a TN state election.

Good catch, you'd make some state a good democrat.

Why are Republicans bothered by this? It has more people paying into healthcare system on the whole and was their idea to begin with.

The idea was in its title. It was supposed to make healthcare more affordable. Instead it failed on all fronts

1) It made healthcare more expensive
2) It made healthcare more complicated
3) It cost many Americans their choice of doctor

It didn't get much publicity but Trump helped straighten out Obamacare a great deal and it's helped my family immensely. Here's what he did:

Trump allowed non Obamacare compliant health plans to be offered to Americans. This restored choice for many Americans. If you are healthy and have no pre-existing conditions, do not even think about getting a plan on the marketplace. Go to a company that underwrites these policies. You'll save a bundle AND (another not so highly publicized thing) your plan will be good in many, if not all, states. How many of you knew that virtually all the OC plans are only good in your home state? If you suffer a broken arm in Asheville, NC, you Tennessee folks may very well get stuck with the bill until you get back to Tenn.

OC screwed up more things than I have time to list here. I can't wait for our doctors and nurse contributors to chime in on their opinions of OC.

Bottomline: My wife is on OC due to preexisting conditions but my daughter and I are not. We'd be paying $1900/mo on OC. We're currently paying $1100. $800/mo savings. Thank you Pres Trump!

You'll need that extra $800 if you ever need to use your health insurance. I'm paying about $750/month with an $8550 deductible before it pays a single dime. I don't know what I'd do if it was any more affordable.

People are paying more because for-profit insurance companies are still the main driving force in implementation of the law. My doctors are having to fight harder and harder to get treatments approved. Gotta keep up those shareholder dividends and pay those CEO bonuses!

Oh that cuts both damn ways. On my shoulder surgery the scams the surgical center pulled pissed me off. Process me in network, pull in an out of network asst surgeon mid surgery, and bill an out of network fee 5x what the primary surgeon was paid. These are Medicare base rates that come from the government which from what I understand is the starting point on all of these providers.

There is PLENTY of scumbag behavior to pass around between providers and insurers.

Both of my parents worked medical billing for a good part of their careers. You're damn right when you say there's enough scumming to go around. The stories they have told me...

My sister works in billing also. It’s all a complete shell game and BS.

Are you saying you're on Medicare and they switched out surgeons in order to get you to have to pay money out of pocket?

Isn't that common sense? People who were paying stopped and took the subsidy...I'm not saying I blame them, the rest of us are paying much more. Average Family Premiums Rose 4% to $21,342 in 2020, Benchmark KFF Employer Health Benefit Survey Finds

Neither of these points address the issue, at all.

The point of the ACA was to get more people who are (or were) currently not participating in paying into the system to in fact start participating. Take the young and in particular those whose jobs don't provide a mechanism to get into the system a way to get into the system. The plan has always been to expand the base of people paying in.

You guys should love that. Reduce freeloaders. That's why Romney et al proposed the same concept themselves. Get these people to pay SOMETHING when they were otherwise paying nothing, and ending up misutilizing the system down the line.

The fact that premiums have gone up is not relevant to the point, at all.
