Who gives a damn about the SEC Tournament? Pearl has far superceded what Green did.

But, just to make a note, Green never made it past the quarter-finals of the SEC Tournament, Pearl did it three times. Pearl is 8-5 in the NCAA Tournament, Green was 3-4. It's not even close.

Glad to see some O'Neill love in the poll! He's my #2 behind Pearl; one more season and he'd have taken the team to the Dance.

That might have been a valid point until this year. But we beat a team this year in Ohio State that arguably could have been a #1 seed. So, that argument is no longer available in my opinion.

Pearl's SEC tourney results certainly haven't been great. But they have been better than Green's.

ah, an eat crow thread. good find MHF.

Most of the "mongoloids" (to steal from hat) that have been hating on Pearl have acknowledged how well he did this season and given him his due. I'm sure if we start struggling next year they will be back in full force but I'm okay with laying off them and enjoying our developing program with eye towards even bigger and better things in the future.

I agree in part it is time to bury the hatchet. It is just funny because I had never seen this thread, and yet there is a 90% correlation between having shown up on all my threads to belittle me, and saying O'Neill is a better coach than Pearl.

A Kentucky fan, an Indiana student and a fan of the most prominent O'Neill fanclub leader are the main additions...

I have actually enjoyed discussing basketball with HF. He does more than make cracks, he also talks about players and recruiting and styles etc.

Why is that funny? I'd still take O'neill. I think he's the better coach. The gap narrowed some, but there is still a gap IMO. That's not to bash Pearl. I think O is a helluva coach. It's why NBA teams line up to hire him.

Secondly, all this commentary was long before Pearl showed a drastic change in approach. If you can't see that, you don't know basketball.

who are you talking to? Nobody showed anyone anything. Someone asked which of our last 5 coaches we would prefer. I answered. Who's trying to show something?

I would still pick O. I say that liking Pearl.

Instead of admitting you were blatantly wrong about Pearl you've switched to the style of play argument. Like you guys were right all along. :eek:lol:

I don't have a new talking point. We got our asses handed to us in the past by any team with good guard play because our system doesn't work against them and we played no defense whatsoever. That changed this year. Not entirely, but we made a significant leap, which, if you'll read my opinion over time, is all I've ever advocated. I like our coach and want him to change his philosophy some. I have never wanted to see him gone.

Maybe you could use a refresher course.

I really don't get what is so hard to understand about this. Save one or two people not one person wants Bruce gone.

The only reason I'll start complaining again is if Bruce goes back to controlled chaos.

I could see it happening though because coaches have egos and want to win with their style of play.

I never said he couldn't. I've argued with anyone who says he doesn't know Xs and Os. All coaches do. I've always said that he doesn't demand it from his players, period. The fact that Hopson still plays after going into sulking mode after a miss says it hasn't completely changed. I'm of the mind that players earn PT with D effort, loose ball effort and boards. MSU just showed why it matters.

Sorry that doesn't fit your little talking point, but it's all there.
