Off-season Injuries

If they were to get back to the E8, regardless as to the number of losses would that satisfy most of the fan base?

The fan base is irrelevant. As long as she keeps making E8's, that's goodenuff to keep her job (and yes, keep her dwindling misguided followers telling us about her great "potential")....

If you "really" believe that the number of fans in the seats is not relevant, then you must have never played or coached this game... EVERY FAN MATTERS!... ONE more person in a seat that used to be empty is reason enough for me to coach that much harder and for the players to play with that much more cause.

E8 is not a goal. . .It is a consolation for the talent we have.
F4 should be the least acceptable accomplishment for this program... I know it is for the girls. I would trust it is the minimum acceptable goal for the staff and fanbase.

For me, I have no minimum acceptable finish but a National title...Every dog except the front one is looking at the backside of the one in front of them.... Whether 2nd or 349th, the view is still not as pretty as the lead-dog's.

Wouldn't the first "butts" the Vol coaching staff should be concerned about be in their own conference? Baby steps... At least that seems the most logical or does the middle of the pack finish last year mean nothing because they ended up in the E8? Realistically, the committee sends 8 SEC teams a year to the tourney anyway so I suppose it doesn't really matter where they finish, they will get a shot to redeem themselves if need be.

Oh it matters NY.... If you follow this page at all, you KNOW it matters... Coach W caught hades for every diminished aspect of last year.... It will be how she responds to those shortcomings that will dictate this season.

If she goes "little general" on us and alienates all of the people who truly want to help turn this program back to the right course, it will be bad... But if she grows from the rough venture and realizes that there are people out here who truly want her to succeed, she will individually assess each potential contributor and accept that there can be strength in numbers, as long as the "numbers" aren't negative numbers.

I know I will do my part.

This is my team. And these are my girls. Whether standing beside them or a hundred miles away from them, I will fight for them fervently.

Good point about staying focused on the immediate task at hand. The gamecocks are licking their chops and setting the table. . . But I don't think they are used to sitting at the head of the table like we are... I am hungry!

Fastbreak is not the answer. That's about the only time they look in sync on offense. They need some reliable half court sets. Once the other team is settled on defense, Tennessee looks like they are playing hot potato around the perimeter until Middleton/Carter/Reynolds tosses the ball to Diamond with 1s on the shot clock. And I don't consider, "Get the ball inside and play inside out" to be a playcall.

It would also be nice to see the posts do something other than the statue of liberty pose when calling for the ball. They need to do a better job of moving to get open and going around their defenders and getting open. Nina Davis does this exceptionally well, and she's 5'11. Mercedes needs to take note.

...ain't

Mercedes just needs to be taught. She's more than imposing enough with her height and good mobility. Now she needs to learn how to use her size and lack of girth into a complimentary example. She equates about to a Bill Russell size-wise. Bill Russell was fierce on D and effective on offense (15ppg). I would teach her a sky-hook(Kareem), and a a reverse-pivot fade(Patrick), to compliment the hook. At her height, neither of those shots would be blockable. . . She'd average 15 easy.

I would have her in beast mode from day one.
Merce's not an enigma.
She's solvable.

Who is talking about attendance (which is steadily declining)? We're talking about fan expectations. No one at Tennessee cares what your minimum expectations are. As long as she makes the E8 she isn't going anywhere. It's not like women's basketball is a real sport like football where the administration will cave to fan demands and fire a coach a year after winning the SEC East.....

A person who would write or say or even THINK something like this,,, re; them as a fan...I would prefer an "empty seat" over them in it!.

. . Darth, if you are serious about the words above, I have lost any and all respect for you.

Coach, I think you missed his 'blue font' intent. ("...As long as she makes the E8 she isn't going anywhere. It's not like women's basketball is a real sport like football where the administration will cave to fan demands and fire a coach a year after winning the SEC East.....") I believe he was merely stating what he perceives to be the Admin point of view. If I am reading his post correctly, he's spot on.

Attendance is declining, recruiting is in shambles, records being set are all negative ones, and the AD could not care less. Something is wrong and I don't believe it is all Holly. Something is affecting the program IMO, and whatever it is, "it ain't good".

Darth..if I've read you wrong, my apologies...and I then agree with CoachJ's assessment.

I have asked to meet with Dave Hart. Several times in fact., As with Holly. Both he and she have "interference" emails. So, I have no idea if I even got past the gatekeeper.

I realize this is a football town, but it is also the home city of Pat Summit, the icon that put Title IX into the spotlight and into term papers from people like me. Being that the greatest strides were made here, our women's program deserve to be important!.

What?! Oh NO!!!!! Unbelievable that the Lady Vols are consistently having injuries to players. This injury totally changes the dynamics of the squad going forward this season. I'm in a daze....

Please get well soon T'ea. Geez.....

Wow were down to nine players really needed to recruit a JC in with all these health problems. Guards Reynolds, Deshields, Middleton, Jackson with wings Dunbar and Nared. Russell, Harris, and Nunn.

I am totally sadden about the injury to T'ea. Out for the season. Just terrible. But I am looking on the bright side.

Coach Holly is now FORCED to play and implement Alexa, Kortney and MeMe into the game plan. But I'm frightened by the thought of Holly not knowing how to do that.

GoLadyVols!:eek:hmy:

Wtf!!!! Something just isn't right!! Every year, an injury to a key player....every year!!! I can't even think back to a year when we were mostly healthy the whole time.
