OFFICIAL Chi Cubs Thread: Anyone can have a bad century/this is the year

What is wrong with a WHIP < 1? You are a moron.

haha, don't get into secondary level stats, you'll confuse the masses.

WHIP is my #1 stat for pitchers, and about as deep as i get. BAABIP is going too far and taking too much into consideration, while ERA has too many variables to be reliably accurate as far as a pitchers performance goes.

Don't kill me, but did Harden really leave the other night because his legs were tired? that's just comical

all that matters to me is that they won. i couldn't care less why he left the the game as long as it wasn't for anything serious.

so....

i think i'll give it 2 more weeks. and then, i may throw caution to the wind.

How about a home sweep of the Hated Cards. Will that finally get you pumped up?:p

I don't think the Cubs will sweep but I bet they win 2 of 3.

LET'S GO CUBBIES:clap:

Damn Bill, you must have some kind of withdrawal issue or something. Everytime Harden farts you have to make a comment. He had a decent pitch count and had a couple rough innings where he made some mistakes. We still won the game and I'll take a subpar outing from him every now and again. Name one pitcher in the league that has pitched masterfully in every starting appearance this year or GTFO.

easy there big fella. I was just asking if that was true.

It's mid-August and the Cubs are in 1st in the division by 4.5 games and only 2 games away from having the best record in baseball.

CC has no doubt been solid. Imagine if the Cubs could have somehow pulled a trade for both. Z, Harden, Sabathia, Dempster, and Lilly. Wow. O well, the AL had reads on him and eventually the NL will. That and no way he is with the Brew Crew next year, though he could be a Cub. Either way, Milwaukee will ride him till his arm falls off because of that.

I really think he will be a Cub, although, the way Harden is working out, they may not need him.

Is Marquis signed through next year? I don't see them renewing his contract if not. That could be filled with Marshall, or maybe Sabathia.

8/27/08
W82-L50 (best record in MLB right now)
5 game lead in NL Central (lets open that up)
Won 7 out of last 10
Won 17 out of 23 in August
32 games over 500
9 consecutive series wins
Next opponent is a 4 game series against the Phillies. In September, they will be playing against NL Central teams except for a 4 game series against the Mets, including 2 series each against the Cards and the Brewers (they will play the Brewers in Milwaukee for the last series of the regular season). They need to keep playing hard because the Brew Crew just won't go away.

Go Cubs Go!
Go Cubs Go!

Hey Chicago what do you say,
The Cubs are gonna win today.

Go Cubs Go!
Go Cubs Go!
