I'd like to see the Cubs make it to the series. Rays already swept 'em so it'll make it easier.

I didn't see it but saw that he got the loss and all runs were earned. .1 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 3 ER looks like Wood blew it from just glancing at the box score.

i was actually at the game yesterday.

Edmonds lolly gagged a fly ball and didn't get to it before it hit the ground. he then over ran the ball. he was given the error when the hitter moved to second as he seemed to not care about the runner advancing. the second error that tied the game came off, i think, Wood's 2 walks. on the second error Cedano apparently was trying to to turn the double play to end the game before the ball was in his glove.

he did give up the game winning hit.

it was REALLY pathetic to drive 4 hours to see a game end like that.

would love to clinch in front of the Cards.

however, being a lifelong Cubs fan, i realize there is no such thing as a sure thing until they officially clinch.

OK I'm gonna say it. I believe, this could be the year. Big Z, Dempster, Harden, & Lilly is a great rotation for the playoffs. They can win it.....it's gonna hurt bad this year if they lose, or when they lose.:blink:

as so another year of 'could this be the year?' and 'probably not.' is soon to begin.

as an aside, i love the fact the Ryne Sandberg is just up the street. it is my goal this summer to shake his hand and catch as many Smokies games as i can.

not to poke too much fun, but I didn't realize me quoting VKB's Jesus hates the Cubs pic was the last message here from last year.

Pujols is healthy but the Cards still have glaring weaknesses, the Pirates are a joke, doubt the Brewers can sustain anything with their drop in pitching, the Astros will likely fall into one of their black holes for at least a month and the Reds have a million questions. Win the Central and anything can happen. Gotta believe the Dodgers will have Manny issues (once they finally get him signed) and I don't see anyone else out West contending. That leaves the Mets and Phils and dare I say the Marlins in the East for you to battle for NL rights. It could happen.
