Official "eat crow" because Butch was hired here thread

I'm going to take a different approach.

I'm going to say we are back now and leave it up to CBJ to prove me right.

Whining about it for the last few years hasn't really worked well for any of us.

Somebody gets it. Whatever happens in the next couple of years is going to happen. Why make it more miserable. Whining helps nothing. End result is the same. Like a drive to vacation. Trip may be good. Trip may suck. Try to make the best of the ride and don't be the kid noone wants to travel with because you complain the whole way.

You have a fine way with words Sparty.

No need. Where did that piece of **** Dooley prove he could coach? No where. Butch has everywhere he has been. Butch has this fan base drooling over his recruiting thus far as well. In my op, I didn't beg for folks to eat crow. I merely stated that I was.

I have more worries than recruiting.... Dooley could NOT coach, yet Dooley coached a team that beat CBJ...... That screams at me everytime I try to get on board.

I am not saying that CBJ hasn't done a good job so far, I am impressed with the things he has said, and done so far, and recruiting is going gang busters this year...SO FAR...

The season has not even started yet and you are proclaiming he can coach???? Let this year play out and we will all know, but a couple of good words and a couple (4 or 5) good recruits does not make CBJ a success

WE ARE STILL IN THE SEC, so I will wait and see

Sorry..........NO Crow here yet :hi:

How hard is it for you to comprehend that a SEC team with vastly superior talent, could thump a Cincinnati team in a lesser conference, could still not compete at a high level in said SEC. Same thing applies in recruiting. You can have a top 25 class, and still be 10th in the Sec.

Am I on candid camera ?

Seeing we have such a VASTLY SUPERIOR squad left to us from Dooley, is it your belief that we should compete in the SEC this year??? not to be an arse, just an honest question??

By the way.... CBJ IMHO will have the same issues in the SEC this year, does that side then say we will not win any SEC games this year because of talent??? again, just a question?

A bad day fishing is better than a good day at work, but I get it. :)

Kelly is a legacy and Hurd is a lifelong Vol fan from Nashville. Jones is off to a good start, but if I weren't a mod now, I'd probably be posting this NSFW video in this thread.

Kelly and Hurd are two players who, despite legacy and fan status, had EVERY intention of playing somewhere else .. until Butch came to town. Butch Jones and his staff brought them to Big Orange country. Either could play anywhere they want ... Butch brought the excitement, the enthusiasm, to make them want to choose Knoxville.

I sure hope any of our potential recruits don't read the sites where there are so many people dissing our Coaches and even our recruits. Every post seems to say that he is not proven yet or has not recruited outside of Nashville, etc, etc. Boy, if I were a recruit and read all of this crap from people who are supposed to be fans, I would say no way would I go there!!!!!!!

Have a little common sense when you start spewing out all of that kind of crap!
If you don't, he may not get those that read your negative posts.

I happened to be Orange good or bad!

Go Big Orange!!!!!

R u kidding me?!?! Did all u people calling others negative miss the whole Gruden Forum last fall???? That was full of negative and hurt recruiting and brought the season down. The same people trying to stop the real negativity are now being called negative by the real negative people. Funny how things work out. Ha!!

People that r being cautiously optimistic and taking it day by day aren't being negative. People hoping we lose so that Dooley gets fired so we get Gruden were.

Our '14 class always had potential for being a great class no matter the coach. Even for Dooley if he would have gotten positive support. It's hard to recruit when u r on a warm/hot seat the whole time. Anyway, '14 has an odd combination of very talented legacies and in state talent. This is like a new business's grand opening day success being used to project future success but not taking into acct that the grand opening was full of family and friends. Like others said i want to see how it goes when he has to go into GA, FL, etc and starts pulling top talent. That would be a true testament to his recruiting abilities. Not saying he can't or that I'm not happy we got the current commits but I and others are gonna wait and see. Hope for the best cause at the end of the day that means success for UT and that's all I care about.

At the end of the day all y'all going nuts about him getting the current commits will flame out on CBJ if he doesn't seal up the Berry twins. That's what some of us are trying to prevent. People can come on here and Sun Tzu all they want but at the end of the day knowing this fan base, better known as "The Legion of the Miserable," I'm gonna go with Santayana's....."Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

I was in the Gruden threads a lot and don't recall any of the regulars hoping that the Vols lost so that Dooley would be fired. This is a common misconception by the blind Dooley followers.

Which past are you referring to. The tradition filled winning past, or the least few years (which isn't really that common) past? Just want to know, so I don't cause us to repeat the wrong one.

Thanks BB my reply had the same points but a few more cuss words...I stayed positive about Dooley from his hiring until after the Missouri game...I respect you Oskie and if you want to camp out in front of Neyland Stadium with a REHIRE DEREK DOOLEY banner unfurled more power to you but it seems like you're stubbornly holding on to this dead point...good luck

If you title the thread "I was wrong," or something, that's one thing. When you name it "the official eating crow thread," it directly implies that this is where others should come to do the same.
