Official "eat crow" because Butch was hired here thread

How hard is it for you to comprehend that a SEC team with vastly superior talent, could thump a Cincinnati team in a lesser conference, could still not compete at a high level in said SEC. Same thing applies in recruiting. You can have a top 25 class, and still be 10th in the Sec.

Am I on candid camera ?

That is easy to say when you are trying to build up our coach...

however that same conference last year produced a team that defeated a vastly superior talented SEC team.

Not saying that CBJ is a bad coach, but he certainly was not able to do what Louisville did to Fla....

I hope CBJ does well and will always be wanting the Vols to win every game.... but I am taking a wait and see attitude............Sorry if that offends others on this board

PS/ Not sure, but i have always thought the goat was on Candid camera :good!:

The Louisville that CBJ took to overtime the same year they beat UF, and beat 2 of 3? That Louisville?
Oh, and the UC team that beat SEC Vandy?

Is he not the new coach of your team, too? Why are you trying to tear him down?

He's not tearing him down. He's trying to make sure this crazy fanbase doesn't prop him up to level that he can never live up to it. It's really not that hard to understand if u experienced VN from last spring up to the fall.

(ur post is typical removing of one sentence and leaving the whole pt behind. Classic VN move.)

It's not your job to dictate how this fan base feels. A lot of us are in a positive attitude realm right now. And that is NOT a bad thing. There are reasons to feel positive at this point. And to say otherwise is ignorant. Just my opinion of course.

R u kidding me?!?! Did all u people calling others negative miss the whole Gruden Forum last fall???? That was full of negative and hurt recruiting and brought the season down. The same people trying to stop the real negativity are now being called negative by the real negative people. Funny how things work out. Ha!!

People that r being cautiously optimistic and taking it day by day aren't being negative. People hoping we lose so that Dooley gets fired so we get Gruden were.

Our '14 class always had potential for being a great class no matter the coach. Even for Dooley if he would have gotten positive support. It's hard to recruit when u r on a warm/hot seat the whole time. Anyway, '14 has an odd combination of very talented legacies and in state talent. This is like a new business's grand opening day success being used to project future success but not taking into acct that the grand opening was full of family and friends. Like others said i want to see how it goes when he has to go into GA, FL, etc and starts pulling top talent. That would be a true testament to his recruiting abilities. Not saying he can't or that I'm not happy we got the current commits but I and others are gonna wait and see. Hope for the best cause at the end of the day that means success for UT and that's all I care about.

At the end of the day all y'all going nuts about him getting the current commits will flame out on CBJ if he doesn't seal up the Berry twins. That's what some of us are trying to prevent. People can come on here and Sun Tzu all they want but at the end of the day knowing this fan base, better known as "The Legion of the Miserable," I'm gonna go with Santayana's....."Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."

Couldn't decide if I wanted to go with "delusional" or "cuckoo, cuckoo".... so I did both.

CBk 1st yr to 3rd yr down 39 spots. CBJ 1st to 3rd down 10.

What these #s tell me is tha CBJ can sustain when someone else did all the grunt work. Which is a good thing cause that's the same situation he has walked into at UT. Is that positive enough comment for y'all???

No. Your conclusion is flawed and just your opinion.

Easy on the facts there Crush. You're gonna make his head spin as he constructs his next straw man argument

I am not trying to tear him down... and yes, he is my coach as well....That was not the only statement in my post...you only picked out one part.

I also said "I am NOT saying CBJ is a bad coach" all my point is, I do NOT give him a Pass on the Tennessee game....I do hope he can coach as well as he seems to be recruiting

But I am still at "Wait and see" till I declare he is a good coach.

PS/ If I remember what little English I studied the word OUR that used when describing OUR COACH implies a certain amount of ownership and my own personal connection to CBJ
PS/ I defended Dooley based on the FACT THAT HE WAS OUR COACH AND NOT BASED ON HIS ABILITY...I want to see more of CBJ before I err on that side again :salute:

Sad day for all Vols when we even count Vandy as a team of SEC caliber

However..... your point about the Louisville/Cinn game is well taken....but if you use that logic I could also say is that the same Florida that Louisville beat ...the one that took our high quality players out to the woodshed??? that Florida???

You guys are just in full defensive mode when it comes to CBJ...and he may well turn out to be the best thing to happen here sense Gen Neyland... I Hope so...

I just think the blimish on his record of being beaten by the worse coach in my history of following Tennessee football is worthy of an honest question about our new coach.... ...(My first game, Dewey Warren was QB)

I think the more accurate statement may be that some aren't looking for reasons to not be hopeful.

As far as being beaten by Dooley, that was my initial reaction. Then I took a closer look. Sometimes that's all it takes.

(My husband played high school football for Dewey Warren, he was coach.)

He was a decent coach, but a better QB... the first time I saw him in the pocket it looked like he would be destroyed, yrt he just stood there and completed the passes...as a young man it made an impression on me and began my love for the passing game

I hope I am not being negative...it is not really my intent, but I am being honest with how I fell...I am simply saying I am taking the wait and see before I totally believe again...I have been caught up in the hype before and I want action before I decide...

Thanks for responding Volly :hi:

I understand the cautious approach. It's hard not to feel that way, especially considering what we've been through in the last several years.

I'm just trying to enjoy the positive things right now. My family situation reminds me that the future isn't guaranteed, and appreciating good things on a daily basis has merit. So that's where my approach comes from.

Well if u can't tell that this fanbase gets in over it's head and then crashes that's not my problem. Like it or not when I see something that will cause harm to the school I love and graduated from then I will voice my opnion about it. This isn't just about the football team for me but the schools reputation as a whole. This fanbase needs a reality check. Until it understands that I will continue to try to guide it in the direction I believe is best. People can listen or not but I'm still gonna do it. Do I have that right on here darlin??

Honestly u have a problem grasping that I don't have a problem with people being happy, but with people keeping it under control so they don't turn negative like they did this past fall. This isn't some hippy pow-wow lovefest this cfb.

Couldn't decide if I wanted to go with "delusional" or "cuckoo, cuckoo".... so I did both.

Probably couldn't decide cause u r incapable of understanding what I said. Which is obvious when you make a stupid comment like this. I don't mind disagreement but you show the incompetent card when all u got is stupid comments.

No. Your conclusion is flawed and just your opinion.

It is my opnion and that's what I said. I'm more than happy to discuss where it's flawed but of course you can't comprehend the root of my conclusion so therefore all you can say is it's flawed which to me says..."I really am to dumb to understand this but I shouldn't agree so I'll make a stupid comment". Good job Corky :good!:

I agree with celebrating the victories we have, and the recent rush of commitments is certainly something to celebrate...and I have and I do...and yes THAT IS exciting

But the past couple of weeks is only the begining, celebrate YES, but I just am not going over the top with the success theories yet

Again...JMHO

The reality is Coach Butch Jones is the head coach of the Tennessee Volunteers Football. And the team deserves our support. That support goes to the program, the players, and the coaches. None of them have done anything at this point to deserve the fanbase turning their backs on them.

And as for the "darlin" crap? Get a life a grow up.
