Official GOP Convention thread

You are pretty much opposite the media pundit take - most gave Ann Romney rave reviews but not so much for Christie.

I didn't see either (though I DVR'd them) so I can't comment.

That doesn't surprise me.

I think Ann did a very good job in the delivery. I just wasn't impressed by the speech.

Christie did talk more about New Jersey than he did Mitt.

I think he has the way to communicate that very few have. I would put him close to par with Reagan and Clinton with the exception of how he controls his temper at press conferences and town halls. He has been known to get a little rude at times....:)

I understand your general sentiment but how was GJ mistreated during the nomination process? He was at the debates and he along with many others failed to gain traction.

It's because he didn't win, so his like Ron Paul's supporters are taking their ball and going home! Or just being a$$es.

He does do a very good job of framing why you have to take on the tough issues and not pander - the contrast with the current admin that is handing out goodies to special interests and voting blocks left and right is night and day.

I think he was invited to just 1 debate, so he didn't get a fair shake.

Aside from RP, the guy is the only fiscally responsible candidate. He's wildly popular and won re-election in a state that is 2:1 democratic. He actually has the balls to make necessary cuts, and he's still popular? This guy should be a Republican's wet dream, and the GOP decision makers put him on the back burner. The party ain't changing.

He was at plenty of debates.

Look, he had poor name recognition. He had pretty much zero ground game in the early primary states and didn't make a compelling argument to enough people to get behind him. He didn't' raise sufficient money.

I don't see how any of that is anyone's fault but his. I like the guy but the Rep party didn't screw him. He like plenty of others wasn't ready to mount a serious and effective campaign as needed.

His wikipedia page shows that he was invited to just 2 debates. He was invited to the first debate (probably because Bachmann and Romney declined), and was excluded from the next 3, then invited to another where he did very well, and wasn't invited again.

I don't feel like I'm taking my ball and going home. I feel like I'm being asked to leave. I'll oblige.

Wow. Has she been traveling to Argentina - I mean hiking the Appalachian Trail?

No she is more of a lets veto raises for teachers but give 8% to her staff.

Join the local business's coalition(which was funded by Walmart) to block Amazon.

Take full credit for Boeing, which she had zero to do with.

The SC port Fiasco.

It goes on and on

unfortunate - but not surprising I guess. The first 2 are especially bothersome.

The bottom line is that he was a relative unknown with very limited resources. The party didn't screw him - he just wasn't sufficiently resourced to compete.

Bachmann, Cain, Huntsman, and Santorum weren't widely known until they appeared on the debate stage either. Their buzz was manufactured because they were favored. My opinion anyways.

You might as well, a vote for a third party is the same as a vote for Obama. So in this election, by default voting 3rd party is supporting the current Potus.

FYI - I just accidentally wrecked your post with the pic of Sam Elliott in it. I meant to quote it, but instead edited it. Tried to clean it up, but it was too screwed up, so I deleted it. :hi:

Only if you live in one of the battleground states.

Bachman was a well known entity due to her fundraising prowess and Santorum had name ID. Cain was pure charisma.
