Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

Ok, gotta do a little grandpa brag, my heart just swelled.

Son dropped of the grandkids for the night, my 5yo granddaughter comes out on the deck and sits down beside me watching the LSU/AU game. 10 minutes she pats me on the leg and said “looks like we’ll stomp them“ gets up and goes inside.

Your son set you up big time, and you fell for it just like the rest of us would have. He sent your granddaughter in with a mission, and she scored a direct hit. Credit to your son for bringing the kids up right, though. My older son and I are diehard TN fans and always have been, but I feel like I failed with the younger one. He went to TN Tech which was fine by me and has done incredibly well since graduation ... with one major flaw - well two. He's not a diehard TN fan, and he married an Auburn grad. His loyalties are just not in a good place. My older son got his PhD at AR, so he roots for TN and AR, but when push comes to shove he's a TN grad fan first. I go back to the days when AR was in the Southwest Conf and Frank Broyles was coach, so I've always had respect for AR football - even if they've had a few whacky coaches in the past few years - can't say we did any better.

I really want them to do this again when we checkerboard the stadium

Nice job. They were Navy and still managed to land inside the stadium. My dad used to say a Navy formation was a bunch of planes in the sky about the same time and headed in generally the same direction. To his credit he did swear my wife into the Navy Reserve and bought her her first eagles when she was promoted to Captain 18 years later.

Monday's news is a reminder of the biggest obstacle facing Tennessee this season

Burrell gone fpr season, Dee williams makes season debut at corner vs LSU.

We badly need Williams to eithwr take a staring position at corner or at least take reps as a backup....we are razor razor thin at corner....

Good/great news? We have 7 defensive backs committed for 2023...out of a maximum 25 scholarships. 7. Seven....these coaches know 1000 times better than we do what the weakest link by far is on our team right now. Defensive lone is good but young. Will be VERY good from next season on bc we have studs here as freshmen and 4* and 5* DLines committed for 23... our LBs are good but a little thin, help is on the way here also....currently at DB we have 14kids on scholarship between corner and safety, nearly all are 3*s...coaching staff only feels half of them can be put on the field in the SEC. Thats a BIG problem. Seven more DBs will be here next summer and i expect the 4* kids to compete for playing time IMMEDIATELY. GO VOLS.

Quit being deadbeats...almost no posts here for a day or 2 brosephs,?

I am still hopeful that LSU wont tear up our secondary like Florida did. They looked real bad against Auburn. Didnt put up a lot of offense, won because of a defensive td, and Auburn being Auburn. This is still a Brian Kelly team. I think he is a good developer of talent but not great Xs and Os.

I think their D line gives us some trouble, especially Oljuari. But their secondary looked like crap.

I see our D giving up about 30 points, maybe less if no turnovers, or if we generate some turnovers. Unless Brian Kelly is dumb he will go for it on fourth down a bunch, we will see that a lot this year.

The most hopeful thing for me is we are finding this success based on Xs and Os. We dont have a bunch of guys that would get drafted, or at least drafted very high.

Tillman and Hooker will go 2/3 round. Until Tillman got hurt I thought he might sneak into the first.

We have some other talent at WR, but none that would go high in the draft right now.

TE is easily our worst position on offense. Serviceable because of scheme.

RB we have some guys who may go low in the draft, but not right now.

OL, Wright may go in the 5th or 6th. Not sure who else may get drafted, Cooper Mays may get drafted after next year, but see him in the same spot.

DE, Byron Young could go around the 4/5th based on potential and measurables. Baron may get drafted after next year.

I dont see any of our current DTs getting drafted this year or next.

At LB Banks is a tackle machine but a huge liability in the passing game, doubt he is highly thought of. Roman Harrison looks good in spots but has never found a consistent role.

DBs maybe Flowers if he tests well. I doubt McCollough tests well enough.

I definitely think the guys we are bringing in will help and be better but it will take some time.

I think our front seven need to get into the backfield a lot more to disrupt the offense. I also believe that's the key to throwing UGA off balance. Force Stetson to move and we've got a punchers chance.

Hopefully he has a leather strap to sharpen that razor with.
Just out of curiosity, how many guys here remember when they used to shave above your ears with a razor when you got a haircut?

I haven't had my hair cut in almost a year, but my barber of 2 years did it every time up to that point.
