Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

I've always wondered how you manage to get younger players the experience they need to fill in when the starters are injured or otherwise out of the game. Lack of experience in the backup ranks has hurt for several years; some of it is the quality of the players, but we've seen some backups really fill the positions. So do you keep them on the bench and hope for the best with starters who are tired and prone to injury, or do you start substituting early with the realization that the best players aren't on the field? At this stage of the season with so many starters out (and it did show in the GA game), you have to wonder if keeping starters in games longer early in the season was not the best decision.

You touch on a very interesting subject. The problem with going so fast all the time and not subbing any players is that the 11 guys you send out for a drive are the ONLY 11 guys that get to see the field at all on that drive unless theres a fake or real injury to a player. This likely stunts the development of backups at Oline, WR etc....and it may be a serious problem with CJH offense. We will find out i guess in the next 4 years or so....

Heupel made a comment recently about the redzone problems and our players being gassed by the time they get to the redzone. Of course, in the last couple of games getting to the redzone has been wishful thinking.

as much as we are complaining about this year, we have been ranked in the AP every week. Unless we look like trash against Vandy I don't see it changing. Remarkable that in 3 years of Heupel we are complaining about something that literally hasn't happened in more than 15 years before he got here.

This is all true, but we should not be ranked. This team has one, maybe two quasi-quality wins. It's a slightly above average team.

I agree we arent very good at all. But really looking at the teams below us that arent many/any I would rank above us.

Utah, maybe.
NC State, nope.
UNLV, nope.
SMU, nope.
NC, maybe.
Clemson may be the better team but has worse losses than us.
