Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

The discussion was basically centered on "societal norms" as the arts have portrayed and drifted into the fact that those "norms" were hijacked and acceptability changed by political parties. The evil discussed is not what norms are correct or what political belief is correct - simply to point out that politics has corrupted/co-opted values and that seemingly non-political facets as simple as a commercial have become highly politicized. If we always shuffle off all that discussion to "relevant" (read: generally polarized) platforms and never discuss it otherwise, then we shouldn't be surprised by outcomes when "we said nothing because it didn't affect us".

We casually talk sports here frequently, too; and there are forums specifically for that.
but this is the off topic thread in the Political Forum. it makes sense to discuss something off topic from the politics, like football. where as something "on topic" belongs in a corresponding thread.

I think Freak generally keeps the politics talk locked down to this forum, and most of the people in this forum avoid the others. you won't catch me in a gameday thread, no thank you. but if he did allow off topic threads in the FF with political talk, it would make sense for discussion on the wokeness of commercials to come up there, as it would be off topic for that forum, and not to show in a football thread.

I'll offer a different example. A couple of days ago I read an article as I recall pushing induction cooktops - praising the efficiency and in the article condemning "dirty gas". That's become a "political" issue as well when you get right down to it. For a long time NG was considered clean energy, but now there's a campaign to trash it. What wasn't even mentioned was the large amount of electricity in this country produced by NG. What also wasn't mentioned was the the thermal conversion efficiency for almost all types of generation that use steam to turn turbines (whether gas, coal, nuclear, ...) is generally little better than 30% (more than 50% fuel goes as waste heat - energy). Also not mentioned was that those are the reliable sources that produce power all night and all day generally regardless of weather. In essence you'd likely waste less and pollute less with "dirty gas" to heat your home, your water, and to cook.

We should call attention to those things here. Biases that aren't political but are driven by politics. And we should point them out because I'd bet many posters here didn't read the article but would have been concerned if they had and were presented "the rest of the story".

Sorry, but when terms like leftists, liberals, woke, and BLM are in a discussion about whether or not Mel Brooks could make a movie today, it's intellectually dishonest to say that is simply an OT discussion regarding societal norms that is free of partisan takes.

I'd recommend starting a thread about it if you have the overwhelming gumption to pop off on the subject. I'll see you there.

Otherwise, this ain't the place. Literally anywhere but here lol.

@Grand Vol other than not oiling the 2 places everybody in the comments says not to oil , is this how you oil and clean your Glocks or similar pistols? My Glock34 gen5 is new and not even "broken in" yet , but I love it and want to take good care of it. Next to that FN 5.7 my boss has, it is my favorite pistol that I have ever shot honestly. For the same reasons too...they are both long barrel, little recoil, and even I can shoot halfway decent groups with them without much experience as a shooter. I just cant justify the 5.7 or the ammo price until i get my youngest out of college anyway. I got this one from a buddy too...he had it stippled and put some nice green tritium? Or trijicon? Sights on it. I love the way it feels in my hand, and dont trust the red dot sights as much so it is pretty much perfect for me. I dont want to change anything about it, i just want to get good at assemble/disassemble/cleaning and make sure that I take good care of it so I can use it safely and leave it to my son someday. Thanks for any tips, help, or advice. I know this is your area of expertise.

Lmao. Yeah, I certainly wasnt trying to be political in here. On the topic of getting funny looks as previously mentioned....my wife and I are also named Marcus and Sheena. You can be sure that nobody ever when looking at our paperwork say to buy a car, house, kids school stuff...literally anything requiring both of our names, has ever for a moment thought that we are white. We have a last name that is also very common among black folks...all the NBA, NFL and college players that I joke about being my cousins (because they have the same last name) are in fact black.

There was a kid named Marcus Luttrel in my high school. All the teachers would pronounce it "Loo-trell" (it was Lut-Rell) and it was always hilarious when this goofy blonde haired white kid would stand up afterwards.

Oil the rails, that's all you need on a pistol.

Otherwise, cleaning should be a relatively simple affair.

Boom!! We are still no11 in the playoff poll

So if we handle our business we should be fine.

According to this diagram though, if the playoffs started today UGA is the 4th SEC team in and we are the 13th team (1st team left out of the playoffs)

Which is complete BS because OM got beat by 2 UNRANKED teams, AND we have the same record as Bama and beat them head to head which should automatically put us in over Bama in ANY tiebreaker scenario in the history of college sports. When 2 teams have the same record, HEAD TO HEAD is ALWAYS the first tiebreaker. Always. Every time. If we get left out, Danny White and CJH need to be catching big fines for raising Hell and both need to be putting as much pressure publicly on the powers that be as possible.

We need to throttle UTEP too...and beat Vandy. Gotta help ourselves as much as possible, because they are trying to screw us. As usual.Screenshot_20241119-210620_Chrome.jpg

Somewhat funny story about the classic American epic we know as "Airplane!" .

I have seen the movie dozens of times growing up, as I bet many of you have. Know most of the bits in it verbatim, yet still laugh every time.

So...I sit down to watch it with my 13yo daughter for her 1st time. For the first time I can remember, didn't bother to look it up on IMDB and check the parents guide...we ALWAYS do before watching a movie with the kids. It tells you about any nudity, sexual innuendo, which 4 letter words and how many times etc. This determines whether or not a movie gets watched in our household. Not this time though...Airplane is rated PG...and i have seen it dozens of times and nearly know it by memory, right?

Apparently I had only ever seen the movie on network TV...and apparently PG ratings circa 1980 were WAY DIFFERENT than PG in the 2000s. So we start watching it....profanity...ouch, but OK...sexual references throughout including the blowjob in the pilots seat which is apparently cut way shorter on TV too...and BIG BARE TITS about halfway thru the movie, which I had obviously never seen before. LMAO. We laughed and laughed about it...but theres at least 5 mins of that movie not seen on cable TV that is actually in the movie if you stream it. Also, I couldn't believe that a dead-on full frontal shot of some big DD boobs was rated PG back in the 80s. It wasnt a quick glance, or "side boob" or a partial view etc...it was gratuitous BIG knockers bouncing up and down while the airplane is in turbulence. For like 3 seconds lmao. Theres other sexual references, people making out, profanity etc throughout. This was not the same movie that I have watched and laughed at as a kid with my parents and grandparents. It was hilarious. So...fair warning. You probably do NOT want to stream Airplane and watch it with children. Better to wait til next time the safer TV version comes on. 😃
Damn. I'm sorry you've lived this long without ever seeing big bare tits. They're very nice.

Number 11, but first team out. Big 12 and G5 auto qualifiers are ranked behind us.

Yep. Will help us if Indiana gets smoked by 20 or more AT ohio st this weekend...also better for us that Texas beats aTM. Good thing is we dont have to play in SECG. We really need to get our crap together though to make the playoffs. Need 2 good wins in 2 weeks....and you can bet your life that Vandy is gonna throw the ball down the middle of the field vs our LBs and Safeties early and often...and blitz their LBs too because thats exactly what UGA did and they shut us out for the 2nd half and passed for 350 yards. Pavia is a beast...we better be 100% focused or we will drop to 9-3 like about 80% of the fanbase predicted preseason. Albeit in a different manner than anyone saw coming lmao.

Sadly, Ive seen all kinds. But if we are being honest, im a small boob kinda guy. Hate fake boobs too. The smaller sets hold up much better over time from what I have seen as well. Womens boobs are like dogs though...theres really no such thing as a bad dog. Beauty is in the eye of the beholder, right? And 1 boob in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. Or something like that.
