Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

The passengers and crew owe Ted Stryker some gratitude after that landing. It’s amazing he was able to fly at all. Stryker, who flew single engine fighters in the war was pressed into action on a plane with four engines. It’s an entirely different kind of flying, altogether.

Not to mention his drinking problem.

Biggest memory of Norm Macdonald was when he dropped the F bomb on SNL.

His final broadcast too...

funniest man that used to be alive

^^^ this. Love that man. My daughter and I still periodically watch his "weekend updates" and the endless OJ references...LONG after he was told to stop. So hilarious. He was a national treasure. His Burt Reynolds on SNL Jeopardy is a great compliment to the hilarious Sean Connery. Back when SNL was funny. RIP Norm. RIP Robin Williams too. Miss them both.

Went to the TOOL concert at TBA last November. Buddy and I each grabbed 2 big 22oz or 24oz beers before going to our seats, didnt want to have to come back. I paid for em...$60. $15 a beer. Big beers...but still. $15 each at the home of the basketVols. Never again. Went to the UT/NCSU game this year. Grabbed a pint of Jack beforehand. Bought 1 big Pepsi in the stadium. Lesson learned.

Yeah, but you just rent beer. You have to return it at some point - probably more more than once in that quantity. There's always the Burt Reynolds collection system, too, but you'd need a big collection bottle.

I don't think Airwolf has that "triggering" effect as the other shows I listed. I tried to cover all the bases..... the Rebel flag, nazis, church going Southern white people, and Veterans with guns.

I would like to add a monthly marathon day of Blazing Saddles, Smokey and the Bandit, and old Clint Eastwood movies.

That actually sounds like an awesome channel. MSNBC ratings would go through the roof.

Somewhat funny story about the classic American epic we know as "Airplane!" .

I have seen the movie dozens of times growing up, as I bet many of you have. Know most of the bits in it verbatim, yet still laugh every time.

So...I sit down to watch it with my 13yo daughter for her 1st time. For the first time I can remember, didn't bother to look it up on IMDB and check the parents guide...we ALWAYS do before watching a movie with the kids. It tells you about any nudity, sexual innuendo, which 4 letter words and how many times etc. This determines whether or not a movie gets watched in our household. Not this time though...Airplane is rated PG...and i have seen it dozens of times and nearly know it by memory, right?

Apparently I had only ever seen the movie on network TV...and apparently PG ratings circa 1980 were WAY DIFFERENT than PG in the 2000s. So we start watching it....profanity...ouch, but OK...sexual references throughout including the blowjob in the pilots seat which is apparently cut way shorter on TV too...and BIG BARE TITS about halfway thru the movie, which I had obviously never seen before. LMAO. We laughed and laughed about it...but theres at least 5 mins of that movie not seen on cable TV that is actually in the movie if you stream it. Also, I couldn't believe that a dead-on full frontal shot of some big DD boobs was rated PG back in the 80s. It wasnt a quick glance, or "side boob" or a partial view etc...it was gratuitous BIG knockers bouncing up and down while the airplane is in turbulence. For like 3 seconds lmao. Theres other sexual references, people making out, profanity etc throughout. This was not the same movie that I have watched and laughed at as a kid with my parents and grandparents. It was hilarious. So...fair warning. You probably do NOT want to stream Airplane and watch it with children. Better to wait til next time the safer TV version comes on. 😃

AirWolf!!! Yessir. Loved that when i was a kid. Nice.

The Incredible Hulk with Lyle Alzado was my jam too. Sad what the steroids did to him. He died in his early 40s IIRC. When your heart gets enlarged from the Juice, the results are catastrophic. I read an article about it when he died...think it was in Sports Illustrated. He was a solid player for the Raiders for a while too. Every little boy in the 80s knew the line " You won't like me when I'm angry." Good times 😃

You talking about Lou Ferrigno as The Hulk?

The PG-13 rating killed the movies

Plus people are just way to uptight now.

I need to find a copy of blazing saddles before the libs have it banned. It comes on tv on occasion but it isn’t the same when they water it down.
