This is key. 4 year recruiting composite is THE most accurate predictor of who wins when the top 10 or 15 teams play eachother. For the 1st time since eventual national Champ UGA in Athens in 22, we were measured and shown to be lacking from a talent perspective. Ohio State clearly had the better players (they have 14 total 5*players, we have 5 I believe) . They whipped us on BOTH lines, which shouldnt have happened vs Garners guys but it surely did just like in Athens this year. They have the best WRs in the country (four 5* guys, we have Matthews) they had corners that shut down our WRs the whole game and the best Safety in FBS that will be a 1st or 2nd round draft pick. 4 year recruiting average makes a big difference. We were measured and found lacking.
I love this staff and this team, and am proud of what they achieved this year. To take the next step and get into the elite 5 or 6 teams with a real chance to win it all every season, we are gonna have to recruit top 10 classes every year for 4 years. We gotta stack those up like pancakes. The 24 and 25 classes are a good start...26 and 27 will need to be as good or better to compete. Having these elite QBs we keep signing will give us a chance. Looks like we are still 2 years away though minimum from being able to win it all. Thanks to CJH and this staff...what they have done the past 2 years is astounding and deserves the respect their body of work suggests. We have averaged 10 wins over the last 3 years...not 9. To average 10 in years 2, 3, and 4 of taking over a complete dumpster fire is amazing IMO. GO VOLS
