Not flaming or trolling, but why is this guy in the mix?

Heard on the SportsAnimal about how this is his dream job, etc. but I can find no history or connection to Tennessee.

He also certainly doesn't seem to be the "home run" the fan base is clamoring for.

Coaches on a pretty dang good Niners staff though. Not a home run, but worlds better than Golden, Fedora, Strong, Davis, etc...

Wife is from Kingston or something like that.

Sans Gruden, I'm starting to warm up to Roman paired with Jim Leavitt.

They(radio) said he has some kind of ties to the Morristown area and really likes East Tennessee. Maybe family or in-laws, not much on his wiki page.

There is about a 90% chance that he lands a NFL head coaching gig in February.

Harbaugh is a bad ass coach at any level, that is a absolute fact. This guy would probably be good..I trust in the harbaugh.

This would be a great hire. I am on my phone so I am not gonna go into detail. Research him, he is impressive.

Would rather have Greg Roman than Al Golden. Could be a Great hire if he put together a Great staff.

I would b ok if this was the scenario....Leavitt is a hell of a def coach and I wouldn't mind him keeping CJC to keep continuity with the offense and also Graham and Pittman...

Leavitt knows a thing or two about bringing a program up from the ashes....he built South Florida up from literally nothing considering he was their first coach and he had them in the top 5....

I hear that he is from Kingston and has expressed interest.

He has worked under Harbaugh, which is great unless we can find another up and comer who has worked under satan ... Oh, wait

As a 49er fan... I'd hate to lose him. However, as a vol fan I'd love to see what he could do. I personally think we need a defensive minded coach.

My clear cut #2 as well. If Gruden says thanks, but no thanks...I want Roman. His father-in-law made it clear at the DB/Maryville game that Roman wants this job. Roman has made it clear to friends around the area (Morristown, in particular) that he WANTS this job. I would be thrilled with Roman. That said, I want Chucky most.

If Gruden didn't happen, I can think of a lot worse guys than Greg Roman.
