Hubbs reporting Hart obviously "has concerns", open disgust displayed after game in Starkville, very quiet plane rides home with Dooley on the private plane not with the team.

Nothing earth-shattering, but Hubbs wouldn't even report that unless something's up, imo. He's cautious.

While I don't agree with Medic's statement that SEC is tougher than NFL, there are some elements of truth there.

Coaching at a school like Ole Miss, Kentucky, Vanderbilt, and Miss State is already a disadvantage when going up against powerhouse SEC teams day in and out.
While traditional powerhouse teams can have cycles of mediocrity, preparing week to week for such good teams and coaches with a time constraint is frustrating as well.
In the NFL, if you fall behind, the draft is there to pick you up, revenue sharing (sans Dallas) can pick you up. In the SEC, fall behind a few years, and teams try and bury you with recruiting. Money starts drying up, etc.

That's why a Gruden type hire is so important. UT can't keep falling behind.

The NFL has 56 NFL players on a team. A SEC team might have 10-15. It's a ridiculous comparison.

The NFL is 32 teams with an equal payroll, draft that penalizes the best teams and schedules made to create parity. Gruden at Tennessee would have access to the best talent in the country every year. A schedule set up with no more than four games against teams with talent parity would be much better than the NFL.
Boom...you just hit the nail squarely on it's head. Tennessee had as much or more talent, overall, as any team they've played thus far. UF should have been a win, by all accounts. And both the UGA and MSU games would have swung our way with better coaching. I honestly felt this team had the makings of a SECC/NC sleeper if they could stay relatively healthy....but more importantly, if Dooley could actually coach.

The latter has been the difference. This is a much better team than the record would imply. It's a shame the season will go down as yet another major disappointment, when talent-wise...there was no reason to.

Exactly

Delusional. I'm not sure you can say we had more talent than any of the three losses except MSU.

I said AS MUCH or more. And that is absolutely the case. Florida had a lot on the DLine, but that was about it. We clearly had more on offense than they did, at almost every position. We had far more talent than UGA did on offense, except at RB. Our DB talent was better and lb's as talented except for Jones.

Mornin' Gruden supporters/detractors. I heard Doug Matthews on the radio this week say that (surprise) that the Bamers were really mad at Fulmer because he turned them in to the SEC. What was surprising to me was that there was another coach that turned them in as well. That coach?..................Nick Saban! While at LSU.

Anybody have any further info on that?

Always heard it was actually Spurrier that turned them in.

Gruden's extension, which goes into effect in September 2012, includes a provision that he will stay out of coaching through the new contract.
..

Ehh..the only thing is that isn't September a little passé for an October article?..

Heard there were several, but Saban surprised me. Especially since Fulmer had death threats if he came back to Alabama. He had to skip the Media days at Bham.

Biggest problem Bammers had with Fulmer is he kicked their asses so many times. They just used that whole getting turned in thing.
