So if that's where this info is coming from, how legit is the Gruden info? He's under contract to ESPN for a few more seasons, has his family based in Tampa, hasn't been in college coaching in 20 years and could prob land a dozen NFL jobs or, if he was serious about college, prob jobs better than UT. Why are you so confident he's ready to take-on a rebuilding job in the toughest conference?

If you are asking me to build a case, I can't. I'm not Gruden or his family members. I just know what I know. Wish I could say more.

Here is one reason.

And we're the delusional ones????

But nothing is 100%, right Jay? You're just passing along what you've heard, correct? That's what you've posted in the past, that nothing is 100%. But then you confuse me with posts like the one above.

Nothing is ever 100% certain except death and taxes.

you realize Low says "nobody thinks he'll come to college. If he gets back into coaching it'll be the NFL."

Seems to me Gruden was on a nostalgic high and we're all reading into it way too much

The only thing that I have picked up from this thread that is 100% is that your mother didn't love you.

Then why did Low post the article or say it on the radio? It's called hedging your bets. It happens a lot in the media.

Why are you in this thread then? Continue living in your fantasy land where we have 0% chance of getting Gruden. Or better yet gtfo and go to USCw board if they even have one.

Ernest, Gruden could have the Cleveland job if he called and asked for it. Is it really unreasonable to doubt he'd want to spend the next (5) seasons rebuilding in a conference where the deck will be stacked against him?

He's not a true fan if he's not on the Gruden bandwagon? Now I've heard it all. Thanks for the laugh.

Thanks for contributing to the discussion. You can find my take on mommy jokes a few pages back.

I've never attacked a poster. But I will go after a flawed argument.

You keep questioning why you are attacked, acknowledging that you have not read an of the thread.

Then you tell a new poster to go back prior in the thread to read your previous posts.

Your questions and arguments wouldnt be original if the first dozen to post them were removed from the conversation.

This, more than anything, is why you are being attacked. :eek:k:

Yes I do. He also starts off by saying last year he thought the Gruden to UT talk was crazy but that Gruden has told people IF he got back in to the college game it would be at Tennessee. There are quotes from Gruden himself that seem to back this up. Nothing is set in stone, but there is nothing wrong with being optimistic.

Coaching UT or college is much easier than the Browns or NFL. Ask Saban, Petrino, spurrier, or Pete Carroll.

No, I understand why people would feel excited even if I think other guys would do a better job.

You scared it might happen? Post 43. Fart On!

Apparently if you don't believe Gruden is in Knoxville playing golf and drinking martinis with Hart, Haslem and Manning while shopping for a house and plucking his new staff from NFL superstars, then you're considered an outsider around here.

I don't know why anyone would want to coach the Browns. He has always said he is waiting for the right opportunity. If he wants to go to the NFL he has had WAY better opportunity than the Browns.

There's been a lot of chatter in this thread about announcing that CDD is finished after the SCar game, and there's been a lot of chatter in this thread about 8 wins being the magic number. So, I'll throw this out there for discussion...If we beat SCar, and don't laugh, just suppose we do, is it likely that UT will wait until the next loss to announce a firing, and if we win out, then CDD is safe? Or, would UT announce after SCar no matter what? I fully expect to lose in the land of wonderful $10 Pulled Pork Buffets. But, if everything still hinges on a loss there, then nothing is 100%.

If we truly have a great chance to hire CJG, then we should move now, IMO.

Here's what I think may be the situation, based on what's been posted. A booster reached out to CJG, and we were told of interest but rejected, because we have a sitting coach. Upon a fifth regular season loss, CDD resigns/is fired on the following Monday, and UT officially contacts CJG and, if necessary, other candidates. If UT finishes the regular season at 8-4, this thread dies. I know...8-4 with that slate of eight wins wouldn't have me pumped either, but that's the probable reality if we go 8-4. If it takes longer to suffer a fifth loss, then the process is delayed.

I think people who keep saying it will happen after the SCar game have been assuming defeats for the past few weeks and next week. We probably will be 3-5 in a week, but that's not a lock. We could extend the Cocks to a three-game losing streak, and if we do, it would be really weird to fire CDD right after that.
