I don't think anybody know for sure where JG and his interest is with us. A large majority seems to agree that he was listening for sure. The logic is a few posters are hearing he has cooled and some others haven't heard that then there info is a few days behind the others.

I could see that as a real possibilty...

I hope that this conflicting information is for some other reason...

Like we still publily have a coach, the fact that we may be negogating with a new one while we have one, could been seen as bad publicity.................so when this information begin to leak, we leaked conflicting information to curb the rumor and that may be the same reason no one is willing to speak out!

There is a correlation between DD not being publicly fired and JG. If JG was not in the mix, why hasn't DD been fired??????? This is my magic bullet theory..... back and to the left, back and to the left, back and to the left.

I said based on what I am hearing this meeting has literally nothing in it that will make an immediate difference to our coaching situation so waiting like today is D-Day is misconstrued imo.

Exactly what I was referring to in my question. I defer to your knowledge on Thai matter. I have no clue what this meeting is really going to do and on what timeframe.

Why would he say yes or no? Job is not open yet. It would be like the Petrino Auburn thing years ago and Tennessee would be caught with their pants down. Nothing will be said until Dooley is gone.

Correct. When the job comes open Gruden will be sought for comment. Until that happens and he says no, then I will move on.

I thought they are voting on the split of the AD and the rest of the University? Now that doesn't matter even if it's approved today?

I agree, but I think that there has been a come to Jesus between the AD/Admin unrelated to this specific meeting.

Wasn't it last week or the week before where someone posted that LWS called the Gruden rumor a fairytale? Then he changed his tune to they have spoke?

I have followed this thread since its inception, I have pushed hard against this "rumor" and I have confirmed that it is more than a rumor. I respect LWS, DeerPark and Skeeter and the info they provide but I have yet to see any of them come in to this thread which is now up to VI and post the first thing. To me that speaks volumes, I believe these guys know far more than they can talk about and are in a position where they cannot elaborate on it and deflect it JMO TIFWIW

Larry has changed His tune on the money we will spend. I don't think he has posted anything changing his tune on gruden.

What about Lex saying he thinks we still might get Gruden, what about SBV posts. .. Do you think Bcarter a more connected poster... again an honest question?

Probably not, I still have hope its just very diminished. Like I said my initial excitement didnt come from any VN posters, but when SBV and Lex jumped in it gave it more credence for me. They are very solid imo. I just think they are more cautiously optimistic all the stars and moons align in a once in a million year fashion and I am not as optimistic as they.

With that said, I hope I am the wrongest I have ever been. With that said, I trust the person I got the MOU and the "He turned us down" info with my life. No reason for him to lie at all, no upside. He doesn't need any form of cred lol. His is the information I put the most faith in out of everything thus far.

EXACTLY! If he isn't still in the mix wouldn't we try to get ahead of Auburn, Arkansas and others? Unless we are just as poorly managed as we were under Hammy.

More of the smoke I was taking about. I fear our other friends info is a few days behind this.

I don't understand why it's not logical to believe that all the information we have gotten from insiders is possibly all true. Have UT and Gruden talked? Yes, I think probably so. Is there mutual interest? Again, yes I think so. Is it possible that the talks cooled off a bit after Gruden got our situation under a microscope and saw some pitfalls with the AD? Again, highly possible. And is it not also possible that the university is interested in taking certain steps within the AD to make the job more attractive to not only Gruden, but other high level coaches? I certainly think that is also possible.

To me, it boils down to the fact that neither UT nor Gruden have publicly denied any interest. Until that happens, or we have another coach at the podium, I'm going to continue to believe that the powers that be are focusing on making a deal with Gruden happen.

Good post, IMO.

Or we could be working the back channels with other candidates besides JG as well.

After you are on this board long enough, it's really neither. Take everything with a grain of salt, because it's going to play out one way or the other no matter how we react on here to it.

Which is precisely my point. I've been here since 2006.

To be fair, and I'm not questioning bcarter at all, but folks like Boro, and OCI told us to expect these smoke screens to come up and to roll with it, and now that it is happening everyone is freaking out (I am getting caught up in it as well-can't help it).

What I don't get is what I am hearing folks say about the BOT meeting. First the vote was huge, now some say it doesn't matter even if passed, others say deals have been made behind the scenes regarding autonomy of the AD. Messages are getting mixed-and me confused mucho.

This may involve the ever optimistic leanings of my heart, but could this issue of control-whether current, already dealt with, or "off the record" handled this upcoming week-settle the power issue and thus clear the lane for going forward with JG?

Correct. When the job comes open Gruden will be sought for comment. Until that happens and he says no, then I will move on.

Thank you Lex ... this explains what I think and why I still have hope for gruden...

For those who want to derail my train... sorry, only when it's over will I walk away

Just a thought about JG. First let me say I do think he is #1 target and at one point was the only target. However, should Gruden not accept the job. I don't expect any comment from either side. UT is already fending off the phony "nobody will take the job" label. All a public statement would do is add to the label. I remain steadfast in the Gruden camp but am now of the belief that options B, C and D are being aggressively explored and should one of those options be hired it will be whitewashed as "he was our top pick and the only guy we even strongly considered". Another reason for Hart to have no real role in the Gruden romance.
