I think a lot of people are getting worked up over the meeting just like they did over rumors of Dooley's firing after the Miss. St. loss. I really think people are in for the same disappointment. Just my opinion, no sources.

Absolutely. The minute the job comes open you probably have 2 or 3 sitting coaches that will have to publicly deny interest, whether they are interested or not.

What fan would not want their HC to take their team to ne heights and to the ceiling? IMO I can't see Strong being the guy that can do that.

As far as programs not being created equal, Louisville has been more relevant the past 4 years than the Vols have.

My position on Strong is this. It doesn't matter what he has or hasn't done at nowheresville. He is a great defensive coach, which is what we need. We don't need to shore up the offense, it is doing great. Strong is very well respected among HS coaches in UF. He would be able to recruit to UT, players that would not consider UL. DEFENSE WE NEED DEFENSE.

He has brought players to UL that wouldn't even consider UT.

MSU deal was widely circulated. I do wonder if the boosters hit their threshold before Hart did. Lost revenue last week was the end, IMO.

I have heard SF 49ers OC Greg Roman and OKST coach Mike Gundy, mentioned by a few insiders in this thread as possible top 5 options...And ESPN keeps saying that Petrino and Gundy are in the top 5...IDK if anyone really knows...

Im not sure the amount of control he would want can be decided in a single meeting, but rather a series of meetings taking time. The context clues lead me to believe the time consuming nature of changing an entire relationship between the AD and Chancellors office is one of the major issues right now.

At least its not money, everything else can be overcome no matter how likely or unlikely.

I have never said he is NOT coming, but am well under 50-50.

IMO, it's just best to take the BOT meetings with a grain of salt and carry on like normal...Some got too wrapped up in the "Dooley is gonna be fired after the Miss. St" stuff and got disappointed..Chill,relax and enjoy the ride..I'm taking my own advice, as I always stay calm.:thumbsup:

Gundy went and played at Oklahoma State. Cannot imagine him leaving.

I have always been suspicious that the reason Dooley has not been announced is because Hart does not have someone in place.

If we had and agreement with Gruden or ? .. I think Hart speaks up on Dooley... what other reason could he have for the delay?

This is what swings me back to Strong. I'm not enamored by his record at Louisville considering the competition they've played. That said, it's not a detraction either. But being a defensive guy, he can really help this team right now. Give him a good OC, and we're in business.

My number one attribute for a college coach is recruiting. I think he'll do well there as well. I think there are a lot of coaches that would be in good position to move UT forward, and I number Strong among them.

Yep. I'm just tired of seeing his name in these lists. He isn't leaving his alma mater-especially when they almost played for the national title last year.

It would be devastating to have the same botched BS we had in the post Kiffin search. If it is the 11th or 12th choice, there is no reason to publicize that. Problem is the AD here obviously leaks like a screen door in a thunderstorm.

I think the AD leaks only what they WANT leaked out. No offense meant to Skeeter or others in the AD, but the AD should have known for a long time that anything talked about in the office eventually winds up on VolNation.
