I could just see it.. As the last MNF game is ending, his partner says, "Well this season has been fun, Jon, hasn't it?" "Yes it has! All the great experiences, the cities we've been to, and all the close games we've got the privilege to witness." "We would like to thank you, Jon, for the excellent commentary you've brought to ESPN the past couple years, but you just couldn't resist coaching again, huh?" "*chuckles* I just couldn't. I want to thank ESPN for letting me help broadcast and commentate on these games the past couple years, but I want to let everyone know I have accepted the job at the University of Tennessee to be the University's 23rd Head Football coach." :)

Just asking, but what if Morris was offered the head coaching job at UT just until MNF was contractually finished? Would you think Clemson would be more interested in negotiating a buy out figure?

Also very interesting hart mentioned not being at a disadvantage "academically" as well. I know that was also talked about a few weeks back that Gruden would want hurdles cleared for acedemics so he wouldn't have any recruiting disadvantage...hope I'm paraphrasing correctly

That is correct.

lets assume that Gruden does accept the job... If OC Morris is out, who are the next candidates? Also, do you think his OC will come from the NFL or is he going the college route?

I think he will pluck a college OC to ease the burden of recruiting and the familiarity with the college game.

at 1.5 he can get just about anyone he wants other than Morris.... :hi:

please dont use term "gruden-aide" bcause of memories of dool-aide.

Grudriver is a much better drink anyway!

I sense Hannibal knows something about a reduction.

Sounds like it. Although like you I don't know why the Clemmers would reduce it. $2m might be more in line with what we'd have to pay to get most top flight OC's, although that still seems high to me. It's a shame this didn't happen last year before Morris signed the amendment, when his buyout was only $50k.

That would be hilarious and ingenious.

So UT threatens to offer him a 4 week contract as HC to subvert the OC buyout.

Clemson would have to decide how much is better than nothing.
