I don't know who comes here and works miracles. I have been through these UT coaching searches since Doug Dickey left for his "dream job." The Vols have not landed a hot coach since the majors higher. Fulmer was in house. Kiffin had pro-experience but had just been fired and well Dooley had an SEC pedigree, some recruiting prowess and a big picture. We all know that Majors had ups and downs and it took Coach Fulmer to get us to the promised land. There are no results guaranteed with Gruden, but he is a major figure in the football landscape and would obviously bring some excitement. Problem is we don't have a former Vol to come home and lead. Jay Graham is as close as it gets and he may not be ready to take the helm. Obviously Gruden has some connections. It may be old school and unrealistic but I miss the days where the Tennessee coaching tree was able to provide and the fan base didn't demand a mercenary hire.
And there is nothing to support that Gruden would be a long term fix. Especially on the college level. My comment was more less that noone honestly knows for a fact that Jon Gruden could win more games in 5 years at Tennessee than Kirby Smart could.
How will you decide he "effs" up the hire? Anyone but Gruden being the coach?

You can start by telling me why they allowed him to say dd was fired before they wanted it known???
They wanted him to continue to coach until a bowl wasn't possible if you believe their Stance.
No that is not what I meant. If he hires someone else, WHOEVER it is better win, and win quick. If they don't everybody will blame him for screwing up the Grudski hire. If Grudski comes and loses, it will all be on him and not Hart. :hi:
He has been a head coach. I dont care its at a different level. You cant tell me that almost everybody would take a superbowl winning head coach over a college coordinator to coach their college team.
