If this is true, DD, LT, and Sal should have killed it here.

In truth they all drop when they leave the nest. While in theory it sounds good. History proves its not, and at best Smart is a huge leap.

DD and Sal were never coordinators at Bama. I am not sure about LT.

Muschamp was a huge leap as well. Almost every HC becomes a HC by some team taking that leap with a proven Coordinator.

Yeah your right... how did we ever win a NC with all the laughable coaching talent.

All I'm saying is that Fulmer did not develop a coaching tree like most other successful HCs.

If you can come up with successful HCs who were on Fulmer's staff, I'd be glad to hear who they might be. We might try to bring them in if Gruden falls through.

So far you listed Cutcliffe....which is ok...but not really elite.

I don't believe that at all. This info is just AD smokescreen IMO.

I dont get the point of a smokescreen anymore. The season is over and our coach has been officially fired.

If Gruden isnt announced by Monday evening then I'm thinking he was never a "lock". I think you then have to take Hart at his word and that the real coaching search has just begun and that they have no clue who is going to be the next HC.

Please , no more apples from the Saban coaching tree, the last two have been rotten.

I don't think Smart is even in the top 6. I am just speaking to why I think Gruden is a bigger risk than most on here.

With the money Gruden is asking along with the demands his agent makes, I would have him about 4th on my list.

Hubbs also just said this a few minutes ago...

Sounds like he's talking in circles now. That post of his doesn't jive with what he's said in previous war room's at all.

On 11/20 Brent Hubbs said this:

Peyton Manning and Jon Gruden have been in discussions "with a little more then Spider 3 Banana talked about."

Of course he could always come back and say "but I didn't say anything about the TN job". It's fudging the numbers just enough so he's technically not wrong, but come on man.

Okay I get it but how are you any different than any other person who is giving info? They have just chosen not to divulge their source of info and you just did. In reality, you don't know any more than the rest. Until JG is standing with Dave Hart in front of the black Verizon banner being announced everyone is speculating. So it's a waist of time for you or anyone else to give out certainties. Just sit back and watch it play out. JMO.

I'm not giving out any certainties. But I appreciate the response.

So we pretend we haven't made a hire, then later announce we made a hire days prior? That accomplishes nothing but delays potential recruiting work.

To me, any attempt to deflect speculation or provide false info (snags, break downs, etc) would be to calm things around working out details, not because a deal is done.

Or to provide Hart the chance to seal the thing...something that would be priceless from certain viewpoints.

You're looking at it wrong if you think a "smokescreen" (hate that term) is to simply delay things.

Question, who's running the show...Hart or the boosters?
I wonder where the Boosters were when we hired Kiffin or Dooley? Have the Boosters just had enough losing and are now taking the bull by the Horns? Wow it does make you wonder.....Who's on first.....what's on second....I don't know's on third

Would you consider Lovie Smith a successful HC?

Just got back from Knoxville...what u heard about Gruden was not good...Boro, Carter, GMan, Slice and others, is this all expected or have things fallen apart?
What's the word?

I really dont think hubbs knows at this point. I know some people in the ad have no clue whats going on(people that would usually be on a search committee).

I agree. I don't think hubbs has a clue about the coaching search. My point was he isn't a puppet of the AD and that was proven by his reporting of DD being fired before they were ready to announce it or before he was correct. Either way he didn't announce it at the direction of the AD which DTO said he was under
