Kirby Smart would have not been a bad hire had we not had the stretch we've had the last 5 years. We must make a splash here. No coordinator will do it. Can not afford to hope the coach can make that jump. Biggest hire in the history of the program now.

Where you not speaking directly about recruiting?

IIRC Sal and LT were both National Recruiters of the year while at Bama and DD was the RC for Saban at LSU.

Shouldn't that = instant recruiting success. Those were his best guys.

The common theme is Saban.

Why does anyone think Smart is gonna go toe to toe with Saban in living rooms and win? If he can't break even there how does he beat him, UF, UGA, LSU, A+M.... on the field?

This whole smoke screen thing is bs IMO. Either there is a deal or there is not. It would be pointless for the AD to "plant" stories with the talking heads to throw off the folks on this forum and elsewhere. IMO 1 of 2 scenarios are possible: 1) we never made an offer; therefore, there is no need to report he has turned UT down, or 2) we are still attempting to reach an agreement. I see no way that a deal has been reached and a cover-up is in play. It just doesn't pass the smell test. JMO

Based on his comments then he straight up doesn't have a clue. He doesn't sound confident in his statements whatsoever.

Fulmer's job was to develop the players not the coaches. He obviously had assistants that did a great job. So what if they don't compare to who ever.

And there is no need for YOU to consider them if Gruden falls through. I'm sure Hart has things under control.

It should also be mentioned that everything also seems to line up with what SBV was saying. We're gonna hear some other names and that is by design.

I think he is the one that breaks it that gruden is out if that happens. Hart will leak that to him so he will allow our fanbase to reset for another name

I hope nobody expected an announcement tonight. Boro hinted that maybe someone in the press might leak something. He was speculating. Gruden is in Philly preparing for MNF. We are only 7 days removed from firing Dooley. I do think they want some distance from that for obvious reasons. We may not get Gruden but nothing has transpired that makes me less convinced it could happen.

Dools is gone so my panic time is over. I will be happy with just about any coached named as I know he will give us a better chance to win next year. A capable coach would have had us playing in a New Years day bowl in Florida. This team(even with the worst defense in UT history) was not far from having a 9-10 win year.
