There is no way anyone close to the sport of Football (college or pro), doesn't understand the level of institutional control required to stay out of trouble these days. There is also no way after the Sandusky incident that anyone would even dream that the Trustees, Chancellor, Athletic Director, etc. could delegate that authority to an individual coach in any sport. Heck, there's no way anyone wouldn't know that after the Tressel and Pearl incidents. I can certainly believe that someone who hasn't worked in the college game in 20+ years, would be extremely worried about the NCAA compliance rules. But it is not even in the realm of my immagination that, that worry would extend into any negotiations other than ensuring I had the budget to have the right compliance coverage to ensure I stayed out of trouble, jail, etc. This whole story line has no plausible legs. If you believe institutional control is a negotiating point as it has been described, I have some swamp land in Georgia, I'll sell you.
