I would love to see it. This is just too much cloack and dagger stuff after proving that you botched the best chance at a game changing hire we had.

I agree about a lot of cloak and dagger, but if you think about it, the players involved are extremely calculating businessmen. Not your local yocals. These guys are used to planning elaborate schemes and manipulating people and the media.

I honestly believe life is going to start getting harder and harder for Alabama starting this year.

Especially if UGA beats them tonite. The SEC is getting bigger, stronger and more badass.

Agreed, but I am talking on our end. Our end is treating this like we are in the middle of some sort of negotiations with foreign countries about the welfare of the entire global population. It's hiring a football coach. Just let people know what you are attempting to do.

I think his ego is too big to pass on another chance at the NFL, he has nothing to prove in college anymore, IMO.

As much as I'm tired of seeing "my sources" at this point in the game, I'm exponentially more tired of people on here being called a "troll" either due to their lack of posts or not agreeing. I'm not typically a negative poster but I just can't be positive about any candidate right now. We were told by several 'insiders' Gruden was a done deal. Like him or not, Gruden would've changed the entire culture at UT. Recruits would have loved us, the rest of the country would have respected us, and the fanbase could've told everybody who doubted us to f'ck off. Instead, we were made to look like idiots by Gruden's agent, the rest of the country is making fun of us (look around the internet ... we're the laughing stock of college football), and recruits are dropping like flies. I don't care if it was a pissing match between the AD and boosters. The truth is, NOBODY on this board knows. Nobody. Everybody I thought had inside information came up short. The people that predicted Gruden wasn't coming were wrong about most events. Even if it went down exactly like the 'insiders' say, the best case scenario is our AD is an incompetent idiot. It never should have gone on that long. He has done this fine university a huge disservice.

And I don't see ANY of the other available candidates that can stop that bleeding.

In all fairness and respect to Bcarter, who sounds like a good dude, this is not the way things went down at all. I think he may be pissed bc he feels misled by some boosters, but all the information one needs to know this was a legitimate chance is out there for public consumption.

Heck, the TFP article discussed staff members who were planning to come with him, and fully believed the deal would be done. Rucker reported he called Bisaccia to be his ST coordinator at TN. Hubbs and Hyams both reported similar things. Gruden would not have gotten his whole package together had they not been well down the road. This is not the behavior of a casual conversation about hypothetically being interested in a job.

That TN and Gruden were close to getting this done is not an opinion or message board rumor mongering. If you'll recall, about a week ago Hyams and Mr SEC both reported that TN and Gruden were very close but that is when the "snag" stuff started and then Hyams went back to "less than 5%."

Anyway it doesn't matter now -- I don't think -- but just wanted to put this back out there so you guys don't feel like you were taken down a road by rumors. This was very very real.

Public perception. Image is 90% of the recruiting game. The last two weeks have dumped a big heaping turd on our image.

I have no idea what happened to get us to this point but it was poorly managed by our AD. Too little real information and too many bogus leaks from the AD AND boosters.
