Official Jon Gruden Thread XIV

You know, Basilio wrote a blog a week or so ago (I know, I know), but it said something interesting--along the lines that Hart was going to interview and then submit a list of three candidates to the $$$ along with Gruden so they would have choices.

Is it possible this is the plan playing out here? See who Hart can churn up before pulling the trigger on a really expensive Gruden deal? It would make a lot of sense.

Totally agree this sounds like a realistic possibility.

He was interested. It didn't work out. Is this hard? RT @brandonbutler81: You post contradictory info, Gruden is interested, not interested.

Easy to backtrack on that and say it got worked out. Nothing is ever over....period...until a new coach is announced at UT.....

Plus...Rucker's a moron to me. I really used to like him but he makes no sense to me. Remember Troy Calhoun was the hire last time?

Done. And I have a friend that does whole hog 'cue in a stone lined pit that would make Myron Mixon weep with envy. Beer and 'cue on me.

Unrelated, but I want to tell you... Myron just opened a high profile joint not far from my place here in Miami. I know he's not actually in the restaurant, but let's just say this restaurant wouldn't win any trophies. Not bad, not great, and sort of all over the place with the regional BBQ (burnt ends from KC, Texas brisket–which I have to say did NOT impress me, being from TX–pulled pork from you know where). I bet your buddy's BBQ is waaaayyyy better than this.

As I've said before, Hart has a cross to bear with this situation. Let's just assume the best: let's say he did everything he could. He courted Gruden, worked with the boosters, and tried to make a deal happen. Given the remote chance all that actually happened, he STILL left all of our d1cks hanging in the wind for several weeks to get ridiculed, he STILL left us open for public criticism from Gruden's jack wagon agent, and he still never came to our defense after it all happened.

F'ck him and the horse he rode in on. He needs to go.

BTW ... Liper ... You're a solid poster. You come strong with information and readily give us caveats when you're not sure about the sources or data. You seem honest, open, and real. You immediately escalated to my favorite poster on this site. Thank you, my friend. :hi:

For everybody freaking out about the process (sorry to use that term), let's all tap the brakes a bit. Nothing concrete is going to be released about interviews or anything else. I trust this process is well underway. We can't really judge any of it until somebody steps to the podium.

This is the assumption I've more or less been operating on. The guys who called in with that info was serious as a heart attack.

I really cannot for the life of me believe for one minute JG is a dead issue. Too many things have happened. I believe it was a smoke screen and when its over Gruden will be the coach. Inside information..NO. but nothing else makes sense. 100% IN FOR GRUDEN, UNTIL ANOTHER COACH IS INTRODUCED. jmho kEEPING THE FAITH. THE 'LOS

They already did that..save the Hart portion. Hence, my confusion.

Why doesnt Halsem put Hart in his place?

I know... it was also claimed he was in Oklahoma the other day, no? Or was that not true?

I'll be the first to admit I have no sources.. But there is things that haven't added up.. For example Gundy, he's gotten beat last two weeks, sorry I'm not buying he is a serious candidate, this whole Gruden mess, and finally we know all of a sudden have a transparent coaching search?? I personally think Hart tried the quiet route and it burned them now AD is saying stuff to appear to keep people in the loop..

Red Wolf hasn't interviewed anyone. He might get started with the process next week, but then again he might wait till after Christmas. I mean come on, we still have 2 more months before national signing day. What's the hurry?

Bingo...if it's Gruden does the recruiting dead period mean a thing?

No....Gruden on name along brings in a top 10 class easily......easily........

Thanks my man. I think I'm using this forum to vent...like a recovery group. :) appreciate it though, thanks.

Watching the games today was depressing knowing it will be a loooooong time before we're in those kinda games. With Gruden not coming I'm just kinda numb about UT.Can't wait to find out if Gruden just didn't wanna come here or Hart screwed us!I hope to the good lord I run into Hubbs or Hamilton 1 day!Don't wanna say what I'd do them exactly, don't wanna be banned from here! These other coaches they're talking about are not awe inspiring at all!

Think about it. As the Gruden numbers kept piling up, so did the sticker shock and "how are we going to pay for all of this?" Smart guys would want to see if they could get better value with another coach. I don't think they will, but that is just me.

How the he!! is everyone? Just got done w/ work. Read the cliffs, doesn't look like too much there. Has there been any news, developments? Everybody in?

Apparantly we are not getting gruden because he said he isn't coming. And apparantly all other candidates aren't coming either because they as well said they arent coming. So I guess there is no search, it's all a smokescreen.

I'll leave a tiny sliver of hope on the gruden deal till it's over just because the whole thing doesn't add or make sense right now. Right now it clearly looks like at the least hart and UT did a bad job with PR and we are getting laughed at with no response. Maybe they went to the mat united or maybe Hart and some boosters balked. Either way PR still looks bad unless this is the best smoke and mirrors ploy ever. No matter what all eyes are on you Mr.Hart and it better be good. GO VOLS:rock:

Is anyone certain we fired Dooley in all this mess? Maybe the reason he missed th KY game was another hip replacement or whatever. Can we get some solid verification?
