There is the big swinging D*** AS someone so eloquently put it about Gruden III. There are other Haslams in other pursuits as well. Like being the Governor of a state and stuff.

It appears that Charlie Strong may not have interviewed after all. This is clearly an attempted diversion to get us to stop talking about Gruden!

Well Vol faithful, I have had all can take today/tonight. Tomorrow/today is new day, hopefully it will be better than the last few.

Paul and Liper, thanks for the information - it is appreciated! And thanks to everyone else who made me laugh tonight. I hope Tarzan swings into Neyland with a nice fat contract and tames the jungle that is the SEC!

True, but feigning interest in other girls will make her jealous (ideally) and get her to make her decision to get out of there with you more quickly. The ongoing search is a tactic to show that we have options.

I just spoke with Charlie Strong, there was NO interview with Tennessee today folks, zero. He is entertaining OV's in Louisville

Ain't dat the truth. I'm certain several of the posters on VN have positions in the AD, with the boosters, etc... These people have generally been fairly reliable with info since I've been lurking and posting. How did ALL of them miss this time (with a few small exceptions)? And ALL had the same ... or very similar ... story.

I'll echo some of the other posters. This just doesn't add up....

Also, if the model is charging you $50,000 dollars, you go for the girls that might be free and see where you stand.

I think what people miss is that anything and everything that can have an impact good or bad on the football program is on the negotiating table and more so with a high caliber candidate. In other words the more capable your target for the contract is the more sophisticated and thus more challenging it is going to be to get to a final signed document.

We live in a sound-bite world with texting and message boards and the like but it's likely this contract with Gruden could be 10+ times as long as the document we had with Dooley and Dooley was a freakin' lawyer. The point is our media both social and otherwise is not given to lenghty reviews of all the details of such a vast compact. The difference in my view this time as opposed to the last hire is Gruden has done his homework and knows what he needs to succeed and Dooley just wanted the job. jmo.

No disagreement here.
But I would also add that Bill has to play his cards veeeerrryyyy carefully here. Don't know if anyone remembers, but Joe Manchin and Mitch McConnell were both looked at (officially, as in investigated) for their involvement in jockeying for their respective institutions to get into the Big XII.
I know Bill's got a job as Gov., but if he plays his hand too heavily in this, he'll have a whole other set of headaches to deal with other than an AD who won't play ball.

Continuing the NFL analogy the top 3-4 Boosters are the defacto owners of this team, Jimmy being chief among them. The idea that Hart faced him down on anything is ludicrous. It would be akin to hearing that Mahmoud Ahmadinejad had faced down the Ayatollah and clerics and said Mohammad could go eff himself. It would be suicide. Whatever is going on that dog just don't hunt.

Jimmy does want to win he loves Tn Vols as much as anyone here he will push for the best course he sees. Like many owners and powerful people though his power sometimes secludes him from hearing frank facts and truth. I only hope he and Charlie are on same page. If so Gruden may still be a possibility, or Gruden and his rather less then ethical agent got greedy and pushed one point too far, and thus pissed off the above mentioned in which case it's a dead fish....and just hope they take the time to get a quality replacement. Just what is in my bourbon soaked grey matter ATM.
